Please make removable drives unselected by default
« on: August 16, 2015, 09:01:46 PM »
Hi Shane, I had my Seagate USB backup drive plugged in when I started the tool
and was surprised to see it selected in the tools by default.

I really don't need to run the fixes on that drive; it's just data.

To my mind, this kind of external drive should not be selected by default (just in case).

regards,
Dave

Simple solution:
- Exit the screen with the repairs,
- unplug the USB drive,
- and re-enter the main repair screen again.

Wow I found the bug! alright so if you hit defaults it goes to c: only but if you close the repair entry then open it again it will default on all of the file permissions interesting. Imma send shane an email on this hopefully he can add it before his update tomorrow :D

If one follows the "Simple solution" then the USB drive won't show up in the list.

- Agree. But we were talking about a USB drive.
- I have a USB adaptor with a MicroSD card and Windows Repair (WR) doesn't recognize that as a separate drive. But WR does recognize my USB hardrive. Odd.
- I see what you mean. When selects "Select all" then all drives are selected. But when one selects "Defaults" then first all drives are selected and directly after that all drives (except for the C: drive) are unselected. Yes, odd behaviour. Bug ? Not necessarily. It could have been done on purpose.

Thanks for looking into this.  My thoughts are that only the system drive should be checked by default (for permissions).
To be honest, I had been trying this and that, and had forgotten that the external drive was even plugged in.  As was mentioned,
any other partitions on the HDD are similarly affected.

Let's face it, 99% of the time, only the system drive is likely to need permissions repair.

- Another possibility: Untick "Lock repair list .................... " in "Settings" then you can untick the appropriate drives when the repairs are already running.
- Yes, this is one of those small inconsistencies that require a solution.
