See if uninstalling two of those updates and then redo the Pre-scan to see what it reports then.

KB3167685 was a June Flash Player update.

Go Start - Settings - Update & Security - Windows Update - Advanced options - View your update history then select KB3163018 and then Uninstall.

MS has acknowledged there were problems with this update.

Do the same for KB3167685 - I'm not sure about that Rollup one so leave that for now and see what another Pre-Scan comes up with.

Because of all of the updates MS has come up with for Win 10, it is putting quite a workload on finding those Cat & Mum files, so Shane is going to discontinue help in replacing those but is going to produce a stickie for members to do it themselves.

We will have to uninstall the updates manually

Remove Update Manually
1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
Code: [Select]
wusa /uninstall /KB:31676853. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

From your PM and the "missing" KBs 3172985 and 3174060 and that you don't seem to have received any updates since upgrading, I would suggest that you use the Upgrade now button from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 which will install Win 10 again without loss to any of your personal files or installed programs.

I haven't run a Pre-Scan since I upgraded as things seem to be working okay - was your scan out of curiosity or because you are having problems ?

Yes, there is a space between wusa and /uninstall and uninstall, and /KB:3167685
Code: [Select]
wusa /uninstall /KB:3167685
@Boggin, Yes, Media Creation Tool to "repair install" Windows 10 will work too. However, the update history will be reset by the Windows Update troubleshooter, so that is not a good indicator of updates being installed :(

I don't know if Karen has used the download button lower down the page to use the MCT to create bootable media from the ISO, but it would be worthwhile should a repair install be required later when the free download will no longer be available.

There's one thing that has crossed my mind though and that is after the proposed 2nd Aug update, will trying a repair install using that ISO be akin to trying to do a repair install of Win 7 with an install disk that doesn't include SP1 and will we need to use the function to roll back to the previous build before we can then repair install.

I doubt if MS will provide a more up to date ISO after the deadline - but I could be wrong.

Microsoft update the build for the Media Creation Tool as well. Windows 10 builds are just repair installs over the older build. That's how the computers running the original Windows 10 build got upgraded to Windows 10 November Update - A "upgrade/repair" install. I wouldn't worry about the builds.  So if @Peaches decides to use Media Creation Tool on or after August the 2nd when the Anniversary Update comes out, then the computer will also be effectively "upgraded" to the newer build.

Yes I know that MCT is updated with each build, my query would be if MS still has that available after 2nd Aug.

Most likely it will still be there. Windows 8/8.1 had the MCT available even though you have to pay to upgrade, so assuming MS does the same, they will have it available. Even if not, we can always have the OP download it the iso from techbench, and run the setup.exe from the mounted iso. It will work because the setup.exe will copy over the boot and install files into the C drive, so you don't really need to keep a USB plugged in after you click Restart in setup.exe, and when it restarts, it starts the actual installation :)

First grab the zip file off this page  and apply the reg file it in to add the take owner ship to the right click menu in explorer.
http://www.tweaking.com/articles/pages/add_quottake_ownershipquot_to_right_click_menu_in_vista_amp_7,1.html

Once that is done go to C:\Windows\servicing\ and right click on Packages and click on take ownership. You will now be able to copy the files into that folder.

I have attached the missing files to this link https://www.sendspace.com/file/bywtys  because it is way to big to upload here, extract the files out of the attached zip file and put them in the C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\ folder.

Then run the pre-scan again, put a check on the box to have it add the cat files back to the database. :cheesy:

(THIS REPAIR IS USER SPECIFIC IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH MISSING CAT OR MUM FILES MAKE A POST IN COMPUTER HELP AND I WILL HUNT DOWN THOSE FILES FOR YOU) :cheesy:
