games for windows repair
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:48:18 PM »
I have uninstalled, cleaned registry, rebooted, and reinstalled and I still get messages about the Log in being broken somehow. What little information I have found suggest reinstallin OS (Windows 7 pro, 32 bit. Everything else works fine. How about something that wipes all the GFW files and logs and such so you can reinstall? Great program by the way, has saved me from reimaging 3 computers. :cry:

Lamebear, are you inquiring about broken windows login, or broken GFWL login?  :confused:

If you are trying to fix GFWL the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will get rid of GFWL remnants for you.  Then reinstall GFWL clean.

I suspect it is the login for xlive. the event viewer reports:Log Name:      Application
Source:        SignInAssistant

Event ID:      0
Task Category: None

Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      BLACKICE
Description:
The description for Event ID 0 from source SignInAssistant cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

StartService failed with hr = 0x80070002

Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
  <System>

  </System>
  <EventData>
    <Data>StartService failed with hr = 0x80070002</Data>

If you are trying to fix GFWL the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will get rid of GFWL remnants for you.  Then reinstall GFWL clean.

Find any traces of GFWL and delete it. Look in your user profile, program data folder, local and roaming folder (vista and newer)

Once that is done reboot, then make sure to download the latest GFWL
