Windows Modular Installer is set at manual. that is also another can of worms where it seems as though services keep being stopped. I started it, and Windows Installer. were stopped. ( god I hate bothering people for this stuff )

2
Well I did all the updates you said to do, they are not applicable for this system, I restarted Windows Modular Installer and Windows Update went right back to running continuously. Are they doing this with Windows 7 that they may have also included Win 8.1 in that they are forcing those people out, win 7. Is there a place that in Microsoft that this can be mentioned and they can look into the Windows Modular Installer and why it isn't working?

What is the importance of running Windows Modular Installer, does it need to be running or can I turn it off and leave it off? And can someone please tell me when the next update drops and I can try both ways to see if it installs. The two KB downloads that I said downloaded numerous and and I mean numerous times were, KB2990967 and KB3063843 I had to hide them so they wouldn't keep downloading. Here I thought I was making progress and I realized that it was only downloading two at a time and said hmm I wonder if they are the same two, checked and sure enough they were.

No its now there, it keeps now saying Windows Update is up to date. It also seems as though it only downloaded like three KB's they are and I didn't realize this, but it updated two numerous times. I also have the Windows Modular Installer off I am going to restart that and then I will let you know if it works that way. I think the major problem is when my hard drive failed they put everything and I mean everything back on the new drive, wouldn't that make the new hard drive practically fail like the old drive?

And isn't there a way to contact Microsoft and let them know that there is something wrong with the Windows Modular Installer. it may have happened after an update?

I did try the two on that date listed under Product Windows 8.1 and they both said they were not applicable for this computer.

I am going to post this in here too, I found a workaround as they call it not a solution. I am going to copy and paste the article. To me this seems like it is a ply of Microsoft to get people to download win10. But my question after you read the article is how do I fix this problem, will Microsoft fix it? And do I need to turn the WIndows Modular Installer off and on each time? Article below:

Rohit, thank you for the suggestion. Your Method 1 was a point in the right direction. For anyone else experiencing this problem, the conflict was with "Windows Module Installer," which is the parent process that calls TrustedInstaller.exe. I'm not a Microsoft tech, but for my situation I recommend the following: 1)  Run msconfig.exe as administrator. 2)  Under Services, deselect Windows Module Installer. Apply and reboot. 3)  Windows Update now runs. Download and install any updates. However, other software updates and installations may not run anymore.  Therefore: 4) Leave Windows Update set NOT to check for updates automatically. 5) Run msconfig.exe again and reselect Windows Module Installer. Apply and reboot. 6) Set yourself a reminder to run Windows Update periodically by following these same steps. Note that this is a workaround, not a solution.

Come on Tom yeah I know that when it is done updating all it will say you have no more updates. But hasn't there been any updates since two weeks ago and my update history says that I haven't updated anything.

My hard drive is assigned a letter it is C. time and date are correct. so I ran the diskmgmt.msc and this is what I got. it is in a snippet photo I am going to add as an attachment below. you can see the drive is marked C I don't know what the others are. I greatly appreciate any help I get. can I download updates manually and will I know the right ones to download if possible. and will that make windows update work afterwards. I wish there was a file that Microsoft would make after each download on tuesday so if there was a possibility to manually download windows update I could just go get that file and download it. still not done. hopefully we can resolve this.

I found out what the problem was it was a program called X-Mouse Button Control. always worked for me before this time around not so sure about the program

So I had a hard drive failure so the geeks at Best Buy tell me, but when I pug my drive into a slave drive, hmmmmmm I will be damn it works. Windows wouldn't load up, so that is why I took it to the best.
So I asked them to download windows 8.1 x64-bit. and install Chrome and update windows completely. I will take it from there which you think you wouldn't have to ask them to do. ( do you ask your mechanic to put the wheel on when he finishes your brakes) anyway so I am looking at my windows update today. it says it was never updated, and won't update now. it actually says that I have all updates. that was like 2 weeks ago that I took my system to Best Buy can someone help. I am getting tired of buying programs that don't work. I have been looking at Tweaking.com software another program that promises to fix this and fix that I do a lot when I need to fix situations. I try but I am getting tired of spending more time keeping my computer to run and I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to computers I do good. So can someone help me with this.

what I thought would be a little problem. Evidently it is a major problem. Okay what happens is when I want to open a program. I click on run as admin. and then a User Account Control box comes up, that I have to either answer yes or no too. here is my problem, my mouse doesn't recognize the box at all. I can see the box and all but the mouse won't respond to it, like its not there. I have to click on the touch screen to make it work. So what is this problem. How do I fix this.

please if you don't understand what I am asking and you never used win 8.1 64-bit then please don't answer. please ask me any info you might need that I forgot, thank you. but my problem is up above.

I am using this program and I want to print #6 3/4 envelopes. But at the bottom next to the * it states that I need a certain driver. Is this driver for the program or do I need to find the driver for my printer ( HP Deskjet 3512 ) I am using Windows 64bit. If anything else is needed for information, please ask first. Thank you.

thanks Shane.love people like you who share their knowledge.i made a small donation to you.but when they throttle someone told me they put you on a list of peak hrs.like they give access to businesses mon-fri 9am to 5pm and others get the other time.isn't there anyway to change that, once i had dial up back in the day,i found a program that hooked into dial up and they couldn't knock me off.i told them if i drop the program, they agree to keep me on what i call the front burner of being connected to the internet.I was also asked if i told anyone else about the program,no i didn't; they agreed to keep me on without tossing me off,and when i decided i didn't need to be connected i would click off.is there any tools, that i can use to strengthen my connection,i found one called connection keeper i am going to try.it keeps businesses that i would use when i am out, from dropping my wifi use, thanks.not trying to get over anyone but the cable company that tries does what you said.yes i know what throttling is.i had someone explain that to me,in the area.what a great job you do.thank you

Well my internet comes through cable from Comcast. Now here is the kicker. The city i live in owns the franchise from Comcast. They use the power of the city not to allow other ISP in the town except satellite which you need a two year agreement, which i do not agree with anyone on,or having a two year agreement. Then what they do is mon-fri when i am at home during the day and not at work. They throttle my internet connection for the businesses in the area,we live in a high economic strived area, and i pay the same per month. They say there is a way to change your peak hrs the ISP puts you on,any ideas how to boost my internet.Change anything that can get me closer to the download speeds i pay for.It irritates me they do this, now i want to irritate them. And if they don't like what i do,we can take legal means in court. But i don't think its fair to me.Thank you.I am not asking anyone for anything legal,Just how do i get into my modem (provided by the ISP and change a few configurations around to get the downloads i pay for.

Feedback & Suggestions / Thank you for this site

Well i have been here a few days and i am liking the Tweaks that you have..I found my way here from a website called Raymond.cc and from there to BlackViper.com.Well its great to find sites like this, they are hard to find, the good ones like these.I am always looking for sites like this to help myself and others out if i can.If i use sites like this to help others and charge them its for my time and not at all for using the programs or I pass it on.I will say this and hope you understand.I have in the past paid for full versions of programs; had to pay for them only to find out that in the end they didn't work.So i will never ever again pay for a full version of a program. What i do is look for those like Tweak.com the little guy(no bad point intended) and if the program works and i can try it for a few months,i love to donate and have been to those that help out people like me.The antivirus i use I donate to and a few others. Its not any of the big fancy guys whos programs in the end don't work, take over your system.I would like to see more programmers who take the time to make programs that work, ask for donations. You know they are serious and take the work they do to heart. The thing that i don't get and lets take one of the biggest antivirus groups at hand,is they build a free and paid version, usually the paid version is for automatic updating,so if you use the free program and it doesn't work, why would i want to pay for the paid version. And with the economy as bad as it is you look over their paid version and see that they have lets say 2.5 million users and you look at their free version and they have 8.4 million. To me its greed if they wouldn't charge people so much and make a working program just at 1.00 donation if they took it,they would have an extra 8.4 mil in their pockets.Well i voiced my opinion about this site. And in the future it would be a great tool to know where to go for Tweaks, default lists and other categories of Windows OS.Thanks for this great site.I am learning how to use it as we speak
