I havent had a chance to find new ways for me to code a fix. I am thinking of finding a way to write a small bit of code to find the apps that can be installed fresh and call them each one by one instead of through MSs command.

Far as I know the bug is still there.

Mine does the same.

It is a setting in Windows where it hides empty drives.

I know the one setting for having it hide empty drives in Computer, but I dont know where the setting is and if there is one for the left folder option.

Nope. The one in the Windows Repair is just called by the program at the start of the repairs, no other time than that. Cleanmem is still the one to use :-)

Yeap I see the problem with the text not showing. The new color options use new controls and the code is pulling the color wrong and so the text color is the same as the back color and so you dont see it. I have it fixed I will have it done in the next update :-)

WR blocks running this command right now

"set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}"

because it is that command itself that breaks the apps, and until MS fixes it I will keep it blocked :-)

If you are getting blue screens then I would use a program called WhoCrashed and see if it can tell you what file is causing it.

Sometimes it is a bad hard driver, sometimes bad memory and other times it is a bad driver.

The repair is to repair the icon cache, so if it becomes corrupt. The repair doesnt change any of the icons themselves, so if you have a program that messed with the icons of things this wont fix it since this is just clearing out the windows cache which can become corrupted.

If I had the repair messing with peoples icons and changing them to defaults I would have a lot of ticked off people.

Nope.

The program has the file info in the manifest file and is part of the exe, so windows knows to uses he files in the program folder :-) So no need to register any files and is how I can have it be portable.

My program has nothing to do with how it installs and your antivirus combined. Your AV scans every file and it is your AV that is causing the problem, not windows and not my program.

Avs do this all the time, best you can do is send the file to them and they will remove any false positives from their virus defs.

My program cant make any drive letters disappear, there isnt a single command in the whole program that can do that

It sounds like hard drive may have gone bad or the file system is corrupt and just needs repaired.

It has been a while, what is the status of things now?

Holy crap! I didnt realize it had been almost a month. I am just getting hammered and I am finding it hard to keep up.

If you still have a problem with this it might be something I need to remote into you and take a look at myself, then I will be able to see what is going on.

lol no. I just realized because of how many posts I answer in one sitting that I almost never read the subject line I just read the first post.

Skips58, open a command window as administrator and put this in
sfc /scannow

When it is finished let me know if it says no problems found or if it found corrupt files but was unable to replace them.

My TweakingFormControls.ocx is the controls I use in the program and they do call the mscomctl.OCX file.

Ok so it looks like when it is pulling the %ProgramFiles%.

So open a cmd.exe window and put this in

echo %ProgramFiles%

Then hit enter, then take a screen shot of that for me and post it :-)

I forgot to ask what version of Windows.

On my Windows 7 the version should be 6.1.98.16

Each version of Windows will have a different version :-)

Administrator is an account on the computer, normally disabled by default. Administrators is a group and any user part of the administrators group gets access. You want to use the administrators group :-)

I found a different IDT driver to use and the problem went away. Another time just reinstalling the same driver worked. So I am not sure exactly but I do know it was the audio driver holding up the services.

OK so the performance counters are broken, lets see if the command to restore them from their backup will work.

Open a cmd.exe window as administrator and put in
lodctr /r

If it works reboot and see if that does the trick :-)

I got your email on this as well.

What exactly do you mean you lost admin privileges? The program doesnt take that away. In the email I sent back to you I said it sounded like you are talking about the UAC being turned back on and I told you how to turn it off but you didnt answer me on that one.

Nope. That is the actual repairs in the program. The one I want is on the main window right under the open pre-scan button is and is even at the bottom of the pre-scan window as well :-)

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Chkdsk freezes at 12%
« on: February 25, 2016, 03:18:40 pm »
Does chkdsk /r still get stuck at 12%

If it does then it is either a bad sector after all OR bad memory. When chkdsk runs it will fill the memory and use as much as it can. So if say a part of your memory towards the end of it, the area you possibly rarely hit and is bad it would lock chkdsk right up.

So just to cover all the bases make sure to do a memory test as well :-)

I had this error show up on a few machine and some of them even fresh new installs that I was doing!

I noticed on the new installs it had happened after I installed the IDT audio driver. So I uninstalled the driver and rebooted and the error went away. Turns out it was causing a service to hang for a few before it would start and would cause the error at startup and would be fine after a min or so had pasted.

So as a test, try uninstalling your audio driver and software and see if that does the trick.
