(SOLVED) Windows Repair 2.9.2 reports wrong Windows version.
« on: October 08, 2014, 02:26:13 pm »
I have recently downloaded a portable version of Windows Repair v2.9.2.

When I ran the program, it shows "Windows 9" in the title although I'm running Windows 8.1.

Kindly check the attached screenshot.

Thanks.

The program pulls the Windows name from this registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ and then ProductName

Check that registry key and see if it says Windows 9, if it does you may want to change it back. (Curios to what changed it on your system)

On my Windows 8.1 pro the productname shows "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" (I have the media player extras installed)
