Windows 7 Hyper terminal

Looks like hyper terminal wasn't added to windows 7 or 8. Is there any software that is close to hyper terminal to use to connect from a windows 7 pc to a PBX phone system? I also have been told that it can be copied and pasted from a XP machine or does anyone have that program?

I have tried this 3  times and I always get a error when trying to open it and I'm wondering if it's because I'm trying to load it on a win 7 64 bit machine but I have my doubts that's the reason I'm getting the error message. The error is "Windows has reported a tapi error) use the phone and modem icon in control panels.
