Hi,
after two trials to upgrade on Win 10 (both times reached the "welcome back" screen, but not keyboard nor mouse functioned anymore, so I had no choice but restore win7 with repair disk and quite an old system image) and now cannot run updates nor create newer backup/system image... but let's start with updates.

Microsoft's troubleshootings, repair tools and fix its are tried without success - actually once the fix It stopped with message that some policy prevents running... Tweaking.com's windows repair process completed as well and the Pre-Scan found 158 servicing package problems (attachment)

Now, my own - and Microsoft's - knowledge has run out.

Ps. to render the letters in verification section would need a machine...

Shane will probably be back on Monday (day job permitting) to help with those, but have you considered making a note of those Windows Updates, uninstalling and then reinstalling them ?

Bogin, Honestly, sometimes your replies are pointless!

Please tell him/us or no need post!

for example;

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104

if, still not working, run this command attached again.

Good morning and thank you for answers

Actually, I maybe will try Boggin's suggestion in some phase but not yet.
I loaded the new Update, then run Rick's reset command, which just flashed on screen. Now the update is running... and failed with 800B10100 and 80073712

Thank you anyhow

Ollder is new to the forum and may not be aware that Shane only covers the forum Mon-Fri and that Shane's advice is the only authoritative advice on here - so no, it wasn't a pointless post.

Correct, it is always good to let users know that so they dont think they are being ignored :-)

Ollder, when you ran my windows repair did you make sure to run it in safe mode and to run all the repairs?

Yes, I did the whole process in safe mode and run all the repairs automatically selected. Did not make any own selections.

It is better when you get to the repairs to click on select all and do all of them.

In fact maybe it is time for me to change the defaults :-)

OK, it's easy job, I'll be back...
By the way, I have a feel that we have quite a different time zone, my time is 10.30 AM now.  (Just curious.)

Northern Europe, Finland.
However, this seems to take lot of time: 'Reset file permissions' is still running - unfortunately I have many HDDs. So 'the report' will come here earliest in your morning and you see it when you have proper time. No hurry, it went over a long time ago

When I used to create my system images onto DVDs I once tried to restore with the one I'd create before the last one and the system just didn't want to know, so I ended up doing a factory reset because the latest system image must have already had the corruption on.

I don't know if the older system image could have had certificate problems with the newer date and time, but Norton 360 was well out of date and sometimes I have to perform a Remove & Reinstall because its Fix it button is unable fix all, usually it's the Sonar Protection that fails, but I was wondering if similar could not have generated the errors you have.

The System Update Readiness Tool is supposed to resolve most of your update errors, but for the 80073712, if that doesn't work then MS recommend a repair install - but what do they know when I've come across one of their techs using Shane's WR :)

.. and here's finally the CBS log.
In normal session I'm not allowed to open CBS.log, even though I'm administrator (?!). So I restarted in safe mode and run sfc /scannow and copied the log to text file on desktop. And here we are now.
Hmmm... should I run the repair, reset file permissions, also in normal mode?

When a sfc /scannow reports that it is unable to repair some files, enter this cmd -

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

This will also put an icon onto the desktop which when double clicked will open an abbreviated CBS Log just showing the repairs and failures which you can then copy & paste into the reply box.

If the cbs.log file is in use it wont let you open it, thats all.

As for those errors, the reason the one update installed for you is because it didnt have to do with .net

The other updates have to do with .net or need .net to install and it looks like your .net on your system is corrupt, and so thats why you are getting those errors.

So use the  .net removal tool here
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx

Have it removal any and all versions of .net let it finish and then reboot.

When it comes backup we will then go and download and install .net

Thanks,
the first link opened a page where i thought I have to download something... But no, it started something which stopped the PC answering. After a while it gave a message something like (sorry, my translation from Finnish language, not correct terminology): "The command chain on this page stopped answering ..." and three choices: carry on, study the command chain or stop the command chain. Whichever i select, the action disappears.

I'm sorry, I must have done something wrong.

Make sure you extract it out of the zip file and run it as administrator.

Thanks again. Now the .Net is removed and reinstalled... and windows update is searching updates once more.
Whatever happens next, I cannot stop being amazed, and grateful, how you give your valuable time for some stranger's problems...

Hi, we are slightly proceeding.
After .net removing and reinstalling, on 'first round' there were 25 updates. 10 completed, 15 not.  On next round there were 6 left (?), they did not complete (800B0100)
Windows backup has not changed.

Now, I have promised my wife not to sit on PC after midnight and now have 6 minutes left. I'll be grateful for all new advices, but will not try anything tonight anymore
