Back up reverts to fall back method
« on: September 07, 2015, 10:36:11 am »
I am a new user to Tweaking.com registry backup . When I back up the program only backs up 12/14 registry items and uses the Backup method.  Just below the backup button  I see  that " Volume Shadow copy not running"  Cant figure out what is wrong. Please see attachment .

The fallback method is the default, go into settings, open advanced settings and uncheck it to use the VSS as the default method. (see screenshot).

I think Shane set the fallback as default so users with a broken VSS could still backup.

Those 2 failed are from Nvidia updater (UpdatusUser), shows as in use. See how it goes using the VSS.

- If VSS is "broken" then run Tweaking's Windows Repair and tick - at least - repair #19. Try it and report back how it went.

The backup works perfectly after unchecking the fall back method.    Thanks very much .

BTW I now have several failed and good backups in the folder where they are stored , can I manually delete them all , then do a new clean one ?

Registry Backup does a pretty good job at "House Keeping", it will delete backups older than 7 days and keep at least 5 backups (default settings) so I would just let it take care of the tidying up.

I understand. Just for interest ,would it mess up the program if I manually delete the backups ?  Tks

No harm, you can manually delete them if you wish.
