I get all times this message :

I should have mentioned above that I also downloaded the portable version and it worked properly. I downloaded the bad installation file from majorgeeks.com.

I just downloaded the installation file from Tweaking.com and get the errors there, too. Looks like, maybe, a version 3.9.6 is in the works?

Did you try the download in Safe Mode with Networking ?

I've just downloaded the new version afresh onto this laptop because it had been factory reset and it is opening fine for me.

While I've ran the Pre-Scan okay, I haven't tried the main repairs yet as there shouldn't be any problems after a factory reset.

OK, so I type in msconfig, go to the boot tab, click "safe boot" and click again "networking" . I reboot and, indeed, it goes to safe mode. However, I have no network connection.

I have seen others mention the same problem, saying that they do not have the wifi Icon in their system tray or they do have the icon, but with a with a red x. But I understand that even though this is so, the networking should be working. It was not! Safe Mode with networking does not work with my computer, a Lenovo T420 with an i7-2620M.

You haven't said which version of Windows you are using, but this is Lenovo's instructions.

https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/ht116905

When I boot my Win 7 laptop into Safe Mode with Networking through the program, my WiFi icons stays with a red X for a short while before clearing.

I've heard that in Win 8/8.1 that wireless doesn't work in Safe Mode with Networking, so you need to connect with an Ethernet cable and it may be the same for Win 10 - I'll find that out on Sunday when I upgrade one of my laptops to Win 10.

It's Windows 10 Pro (10586.494). I've tried half a dozen different methods to get into Safe Mode with Networking including using the Safe Mode button on Tweaking.com Windows Repair v. 3.9.4, but my wireless adapter finds no connections once I get there. I've actually installed 3.9.5 on several machines, a couple of Lenovo Laptops and 4 different Dell Desktops, and each one gives me the missing files errors. However, I can use the portable app. So at this time, my best bet seems to be to uninstall version 3.9.5 from each computer and place the portable version somewhere on the hard drive.

Of course there is still the problem of using Tweaking.com Windows Repair in the Safe Mode without Networking ... I realize that a couple of it's tools do require networking. Still, even without the use of those specific tools, Windows Repair is fantastically useful.

But in the mean time, I suggest that Tweaking.com repair their present problem with the installed version. I'm sure lots of other folks are (or will) have the same problem as I and the fellow above that first described the problem.

Shane does test each update on the various versions of Windows but as I don't have Win 10 yet, I am unable to confirm if this is Win 10 specific.

Were all of the machines that have this file problem all Win 10 machines ?

It's a known problem that wireless will not work on some Win 10 machines in Safe Mode with Networking and to use an Ethernet cable.

If you can get back to me on this, I'll email Shane with a link to this thread and for one other who is having problems using it in Win 10, but I need to know if it is Win 10 specific.

I now have all 7 of my computers with WR 3.95 Portable on their desktops and with the installed version uninstalled. I will write you a private message with my email address if you need to contact me directly.
