Registry Backup 3.5.1 problem
« on: October 08, 2016, 01:58:52 pm »
I installed the updated 3.5.1 which I downloaded from tweaking.com direct download option and the interface is not loading correctly and volume shadow is not working. I uninstalled 3.5.1 and downloaded another copy from direct download option. Same thing. I uninstalled again and downloaded another copy from bleepingcomputer.com. Same thing again. Is there a place where I can download the previous version as it worked perfectly?

Screen print attached

The default for Registry Backup uses the fallback method, to enable VSS uncheck the box in advanced settings, see screenshot attached.

It will not operate on VSS, it hangs for hours! And what about the screwed up screen? And where can I find the old version? I would rather downgrade to the previous version if possible.

I don't know where you can get archived versions.

Probably best if you attach your logs, Log_Vss.txt and Log_Backup.txt  so Shane can take a look at them. You'll find them in the same location for the registry backup..default is C:\RegBackup

Ok, thanks. Will do. Files from two different backups done after update attached. Only one backup created a log_vss.txt file.

I've already emailed Shane with a link to this thread.

Now this is strange! I just now opened Registry Backup. I minimized it to the task bar. When I restored it from the task bar, the Registry Backup screen appears normal. I then opened Advanced and Unselected Enable Fallback Method, went to the main screen and clicked on Backup and VSS worked this time! After it finished, I closed Registry Backup and re-opened it. Again, the screen is messed up as per the screen shot I posted first, but if I minimize it to Task Bar and restore it, the screen returns to normal. I tested it through Task Scheduler by manually selecting Run and it ran and produced a backup folder. So it seems as if it has a mind of it's own and decided to run VSS! However, the screen jumble still exists. FYI, log files for this test backup are attached.
