Is there any way I can stop the icon appearing, it's very annoying.

Which version of Windows are you using ?

There's one laptop that I have - I just can't get it to appear.

Go Start - Settings - Personalisation - Taskbar and scroll down to Select which icons appear in the taskbar and toggle off the one for the WR system tray icon.

Thank you Boggin, that's made it available in the hidden tray icons.  But I wish the software authors wouldn't take it upon themselves to install an icon in the tray unless the program is opened.

I prefer it that way but on one laptop it will only appear when the program is opened but for only that session - it doesn't remain after a reboot.

That's interesting.  There seems to be many differences in similar installations of Windows.  Although this PC is sold as, and is dressed up like, a desktop, I am told by a local repair agency that it holds the components of a laptop, and it has an external plug in power supply!

It's an HP 110-412na.

While this is a bit off topic, not all of its components are that of a laptop.
