Volume Shadow Copy not running XP HE SP3

(1/2) > >>

Elwood:
Hello,

I was having some computer problems so I ran Windows Repair (All in One) v1.9.18 and it seems to have fixed many problems I was having (blue screens), but now my Tweaking.com Registry Backup won't use Volume Shadow Copy. It flashes a green "yes" that it's running for just a second then turns red again and says "no".

What services are required for VSS to run in Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and what may I do to fix it so that Registry Backup can successfully backup my registry using VSS?

Shane:
Can you post the vss log from one of the reg backup folders so I can see what it says?

Shane

Elwood:
Hi Shane and thanks for the reply,

Here's the contents of the Log_Vss.txt file:

Willy2:
VSS requires - at least - the Services called Volume Shadow Copy & SWPRV. I have the same problems form time to time. And yes, running WR on a XP system does "break" VSS.

I re-registered SWPRV.DLL and it did not help. I'm thinking about reinstalling XP, but I know I'll never get it tweaked the way I have it now.

I stupidly deleted my backups before this happened, so I guess that's about my only choice.

I'm going to download autostreamer and try to integrate SP3 into the installation DVD, but I've never used it so I'm not sure I can do it.

Thanks a lot for your reply Willy2.
