unable to start the windows firewall service

Windows Repair v.2.5.1 requested feedback if it failed. Hopefully this is the right forum.
I'm trying to fix the windows firewall service in win 7 ultimate. I first ensured that all of the dependent services were running. When I try to start it, I get "...could not start...If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the system vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5."

A web search lead me to this Windows Repair tool. I selected only the "repair WMI" and "repair windows firewall" repair options since everything else works fine (except for the SQL Server 2012 installation). But I continue to receive the same error.

Yes but a lot of the other repairs also help, such as permissions, services and such. Just make sure to do a registry backup before hand and run all the repairs and see if it helps :-)
