Hello Shane

I suddenly find that my right click menu has disappeared. My mouse is ok as I have tried it on my wifie's PC. I seem to recall a few years ago having the same issue and I think I downloaded something that ........merged?........? I wish I could write a more detailed essay but that's it in a nutshell.

Which version of windows do you have?

If you have win xp you can try this:

--- Quote ---Open Start menu properties and enable dragging and dropping.

New Start menu:-Right-click on Start button/Taskbar>select Properties>Taskbar and Start menu properties>Start menu>Customize>Advanced>Under Start menu items check the box against 'Enable dragging and dropping'>ok
Classic Start Menu:-Right-click  on Start menu/Taskbar>Select Properties>Taskbar and Start menu properties>Start menu>Customize>under Advanced start menu options>Check the box against 'Enable dragging and dropping'.>ok
--- End quote ---

Or in Xp you can try register these files:
Click Start And Run copy and paste these:
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

If you have win 7 you can try this:

--- Quote ---In Windows Explorer, click a file with the left mouse button and keep the button held down. Then press the Escape key. Drag and drop is miraculously re-enabled.
--- End quote ---

Shane:
Let me know what Thomas had you try works or not, if it doesnt then I will have you check the registry for the right click menu settings and see if anything is missing

Ah, I'm running W7, and incidentally Thomas' suggestion did not work for me.

Shane:
Ok first lets make sure the poicly in Windows to disable the right click didnt get enabled somehow.

You need to check 2 locations in the registry

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
and
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Under both of those see if you have a NoViewContextMenu in either of those locations. If you do remove it and then reboot.

Lets go from there :-0
