problem with audio in my pc...pls help

I plugged in a external   drive for my photos    and it must it been the wrong one...the computer shut off and i smell hot smell coming from external drive     i unplugged it and when i turned the pc on my key board and the external speakers did not work...i put a new key board and that works...i tried new speakers and i still do not have sound...i appreciate your help.

Sounds like you might of had a power surge, hopefully it didnt fry anything.

First thing to do is a proper power reset.

The only way to properly reset hardware is to drain all the electricity out of it.

So turn the computer off, remove the power cord out of the back of it.
While it is still unplugged hit the power button a few times. When you do that the system tries to turn itself on, instantly draining it.

Now plug the power cord back in and boot up and lets see how things go from there. :wink:
