Running Repair Under System Account takes ages
Jeff73:
Hello, I am new here but not new to computers.
I have a windows vista 64 bit machine with some corrupt files sfc /scannow tool could not fix. so I resorted to Windows Repair All In One (First Time user)
I unpacked the Portable Version of the Software, Ran it as administrator to be sure it runs at its fullest, I followed all the steps through out the software, get to the point where I "Start Repairs", It has now been 4 Days I have tried it several times because It keeps getting stuck at "Running Repair Under System Account : Step 1/35. This has happened on several different machines.
Any help would be great, Thanks
Shane:
Do you see the cmd.exe window open with the repair running?
If so get a screen shot for me so I can see if it is stuck at something.
In fact get me a screen shot of the repair program as it is trying to run the repairs so I can see where it is at :-)
v2.7.0 of WR is just about done, I am in the process of running every single repair on each version of Windows since XP inside vmware. I did a complete redo of the permissions repair and more. So you will be able to try that one here soon.

Hello Shane, Thank you for your reply.
Yes I see the cmd.exe window and here is the same file/folder it keeps getting stuck on and looping back to (in screen shot as you requested)
Shane:
Yeap it is stuck in a infinite loop.
What is happening is there is a bad symbolic link or junction. This means that when you go to 1 key you get redirected to another. In this case it is being redirect to a key in the same path so it just keeps hitting it over and over forever.
I have the permissions exe set to ignore those junctions so it is odd it is getting stuck by it. My v2.7.0 which I will have out shortly is using a new exe that is suppose to not follow junctions as well so lets see how the new version does.
If it gets stuck in a loop as well we will then need to dig in and find out what key has the bad link
