IE Favorites Permission Corrupted! HELP!

(1/5) > >>

PzSniper:
HI,
I'm a new suer, today i tried a normal system fix using Tweaking.com - Windows Repair Portable 2.8.0 and default setting, i had some issues with file and registry persmission so ran the tool and everyhing seems to be ok... BUT right now i have discovered a disaster... ALL my internet explorer favorites bookmarks were damaged!!!

I'm desperate, please tell em how can i revert those changes back..coz i can't open urls anymore, if i click em IE doesn't open pages...

Seems programs added an unknown user on ALL files.. there are more that 2000!

Note; even if i create a NEW bookmark from IE,the unknown user appear again! So bookmark isn't usable and clickable anymore... i'm so sad

S-1-15-3-4096 is suppose to be there, it is windows related

--- Quote ---Among other things, the internet Explorer capability (SID: S-1-15-3-4096) is used by the sandboxed IE process to access browser-related resources located outside the AppContainer-specific locations (locations in the registry and file system that are readable/writable to processes running in a particular AppContainer for data storage).

I also checked on my Windows 8 system and I have the same unknown account on all the files and folders in the favorites folder and IE opens them all just fine.

What exactly happens when you try to use them? And what do you get if you go to one of the favorites shortcuts and right click on it and go to properties, it should show the link it points to.

Thanx for the quick repsosne but after digging it a bit i found something...

Looks like that that Unknown Account  S-1-15-3-4096 have something to do with Enhanced Protected Mode...

Looks also what i googled: https://www.google.it/search?q=Favorites+S-1-15-3-4096+site:answers.microsoft.com&client=firefox-a&hs=0n1&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&gws_rd=ssl

I tired to:

- Remove that account and i did it for all fiels in Favorites Foilder
- When i open IE 11 on Windows 8.1.1 it revert Unknown Account to all my bookmarks again
- i cannot open any links even if i keep Enhanced Protected Mode ON or OFF.. this ia a disaster foe me... but i have some hope coz we found the issue...
- Even if i create a NEW bookmark on favorites bar it won't open after i click...
- If i try to open bookmark from folder, IE fire up but nothing display... blank page no url also...

Please suggest me sothing while i try to figure it out.. i'm not expert like you...

Already run sfc /scannow and dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and it DIDN'T found any problems so far... resetted IE and reeboted, no help

Ok this isnt a permissions problem. That unknown account is suppose to be there and that is why IE keeps putting it back. As I said in my last post I have the same permissions and all favorites work fine.

The files in the favorites folder are just .url files and they will open with ever your default browser is, so if it is firefox as your default they they would open in firefox.

Are you able to open IE and go to any page you like manually? If you can, what happens when you click on favorites within IE instead and try from there?

You can also close IE, then go to control panel and open up internet options, click on the advanced tab and click on the reset button. Once done reboot (Normally dont have to reboot but I want to cover all bases)

Then when it comes backup try it out again.

Just seen you had this, so you already did the reset? Also make sure to answer my other questions

I answered your questions...

Looks like i have found something...

- opened an url
- created a new favorite folder
- added url
- This errorì popped up

Looks like dll problems? This issue seems to arise when i fix stuff related to IE with your tool...

Last resort would be completely uninstall IE11 from control panel and reinstall it... what do u think?
