Shane:
I dont know why you cant make the repair disc. Files for it must be missing.
Doing a repair install is by far the easiest and fastest way to get you fixed up. You just need to get your hands on a disc is all

Hi Shane, I was so pleased to know that sp1 was the reason I could not repair.
It is so frustrating to not be able to figure why repair disc cannot be created.
Thank you for your help.

Shane:
Glad you got it working :cheesy:

Do you think I should get to the forums?
I ask because I do not expect special treatment and I was being courteous when I said thank you.
Actually, there is some confusion.
I had two issues;
1-I could not perform a repair with F8 nor with the os disc.
I think your answer was because I have the Win 7 os disc and have installed sp1, but I am not sure.
2-the second issue was that i could not create a repair disc. I may have them confused.
The repair disc is the one in the control panel next to Win 7 imaging application.
That does not work . You said a file may be missing yet I have run SFC suuccessfully and don't know if that means the files are ok or not.
As you can tell, I am in an avaerage user so perhaps need some forum time I do nor expect you to give.

I just wanted you to know that after running your series of tweaks my SFC reported corrupted files.
I tried system restore to no avaial. i did a recovery with Acronis but the repair problem persisted.
I tpped F8 and it said to insert the os dic which toldme I have a BOOT MANAGER GENERIC FAILURE.
