Boggin:
I remember reading an Aaron Stebner blog where he advocated reinstalling .NET Framework versions in reverse order and as v4.5 replaced v4.0 then try restarting with that one and then you won't need v4.0.

This would mean dumping them again but I think some had problems with v1 even though v3.51 is supposed to include the previous versions, so perhaps it would be advisable to leave the v1s installed.

This could be a workaround or result in the same error code.

From what I understood when helping someone a couple of years back with .NET Framework problems, was that v4.0 was a new breed and didn't include the previous versions as v3.51 did.

For the 0x80070643 error have you ran a sfc /scannow to see what that reports or a chkdsk without any parameters to see if that suggests further remedial action ?

Shane:
The cleanup tool may have not uninstalled it all the way, it shouldnt have asked you to repair it when you ran the .net installer.

When you ran the repair tool what options did you choose and did you make sure to run the tool as administrator?

Hello Shane, no I did not run it as administrator. Shall I start over again? Thanks

Shane:
Yes please do, I will be online for a bit so I will be able to answer back, make sure to run it as administrator and when it gives you the option of what you want to do make sure to have it remove everything, it can take a bit to finish, post any screen shots of anything you have a question about so I can answer it for you :-)

If the tool is able to remove .net properly then when you go to install it again it shouldnt ask if you want to repair because it should see that .net is gone. Make sure to disable your AV and any 3rd party programs as well to make sure they dont mess with it.

Shane

Xas1953NC:
OK Shane, I'll do so now
