viewing via my phone Lol did not see that thanks boggin
Shane:
I had all but 24 of the files.
First grab the zip file off this page and apply the reg file it in to add the take owner ship to the right click menu in explorer.
http://www.tweaking.com/articles/pages/add_quottake_ownershipquot_to_right_click_menu_in_vista_amp_7,1.html
Once that is done go to C:\Windows\servicing\ and right click on Packages and click on take ownership. You will now be able to copy the files into that folder.
I have attached the missing files, extract the files out of the attached zip file and put them in the C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\ folder.
Then run my pre-scan again, put a check on the box to have it add the cat files back to the database.

Thank you for the great reply, Shane!
I downloaded and copied the files as you instructed, then reran the Pre-scan. As you stated, all but 24 of the files "took". I rebooted and attempted to reinstall the failed Windows updates.
The same updates are still failing, KB3031432, KB3034375, KB3057839, KB3045999, KB3045171, KB3068708, and KB3061518
Error codes are 80070490 and 80073712 - both identified as unknown errors. Both suggested running the System Update Readiness Tool, so I ran it again even though I've already run it several times. Then rebooted and ran the Pre-scan again. The 24 files are still problems. It looks like these 24 files are for KB2998527 and KB3002885. If I try to uninstall these KB's, then reinstall them, could it fix the problem?

Problems were found with the packages files, these files need to be replaced (These mainly only effect installing Windows Updates.)
The SFC (System File Checker) doesn't scan and replace some of these files, so you may need to replace them manually.
These files do not keep the repairs from working, you may still run the repairs in the program.
If you need help in replacing these files, post on the Forums at Tweaking.com for help.

Scan Complete - Problems Found!
You can use the Repair Reparse Points or Repair Environment Variables tools at the bottom of this Window if needed.
While problems have been found, you can still run the repairs in the program.
But for the best results it is recommended to fix the problems reported in this scan if possible.
If you need help fixing any of the items in the log, just post in the forums at Tweaking.com for help.
Thank you again!!!
Shane:
After you ran the pre scan did you go ahead and do all the repairs and in safe mode?
Shane
jalara:
Did all the repairs in safe mode again tonight. Still getting same 24 files in the pre-scan. System file checker is also showing I have problems it can't repair. Disk check is OK. Is it time to throw in the towel and do a reinstall? I've spent most of 4 weekends trying to get Windows to update. Seems like a lot of wasted time. Any thoughts?
