Chiron:
Thank you. I have another question.

Specifically which fixes would you recommend I run to fix all problems associated with the malware discussed on this page:

Shane:
Permissions of course and the unhide files and Repair Missing Start Menu Icons Removed By Infections

Thanks, so are you saying that I should recommend that they use "Reset Registry Permissions", "Reset File Permissions", "Unhide Non System Files", and "Repair Missing Start Menu Icons Removed By Infections"?

Are there any other fixes they should run for repairing damage caused by this type of malware? What about removing the proxy server, as suggested in the article? Should I also recommend that they use "Repair Proxy Settings"?

Sorry to ask so many questions. I just want to figure out how to get even the most novice user to be able to recover from an infection like this without having to go out of their way to ask an expert. I also want to figure out how to use this tool to repair problems with as few options selected as possible. I believe this should minimize the chances of extra damage.

Shane:
Yeah those will work as well  :cheesy:

All the repairs are safe to do, I normally run them all.

In the program there is an info tab for each one and it tells you what it does

I always run the rest reg and file permissions. Because if permissions are messed up a lot of the repairs wont work. So I like to make sure :-)

Register System Files
Repair WMI
Repair Host file
Remove policies set by infections...

Hi Shane,

Could you elaborate on that? I don't see any options in your tool that would fix "System Driver Files and Services."

Brian
