(SOLVED) Windows 10 "Device xxx requires further installation"
rkbren:
I've been dealing with "Device such and such requires further installation" for some time now on my Win 10 laptop, although I hadn't realized it until recently. The message shows up when the Events tab is selected for a driver in Driver Manager. In my case, at least several drivers are affected, including the display adapter, network, and audio devices. Curiously, the device associated with the driver appears to function properly. However, after migrating from Win 8.1 to Win 10, the Linux Mint installation I had running in a VMWare virtual machine stopped recognizing a network connection (which prompted my looking at the driver events). I've tried all sorts of deletion and re-installation without any effect whatsoever. Running Tweaking.com (absolutely great software!) didn't seem to help this problem even though it corrected many others. Any ideas for solving this problem (if in fact it is a problem!) will be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the vendors sites for Win 10 drivers ?
rkbren:
Yes. As far as I can tell, I have the latest drivers.

It seems strange that all of your devices are working but there are a few Google links relating to this error and perhaps this article may shed some light. http://kb.esi-audio.com/?goto=KB00234EN

Thanks very much, Boggin. I'll check out the link.
