Battery Icon missing on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on Toshiba Satellite A665

<< < (2/4) > >>

Boggin:
Let's see if uninstalling a couple of bits in Device Manager will do it, but first create a restore point by going Start - right click on Computer - select Properties then System Protection in the upper left pane.

When the buttons become active, click on Create and type Pre Batt Uninstall into the box - OK and when it tells you the restore point was successfully made, OK your way out of there and close the window.

Go Start - type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

Expand Batteries - right click on MS Compliant Control Method Battery - select Uninstall - confirm then click on Action - Scan for hardware changes and wait for it to reinstate then check to see if the icon is back and functional.

If not then do the same for the MS Composite Battery.

EDIT - Did the Restore default behaviour not do anything ?

Boggin:
I'm going to have to shoot off for a while but will be back later.

nbkuz92:
I cannot restore Default Behavior because the option is greyed out.  I uninstalled both battery devices, one at a time, and it didn't make a difference.  In Device Manager under Other Devices, there are 8 unknown devices.  I deleted them and after scanning for hardware changes they didn't come back.  The Power option is still greyed out and I still cannot change the default behavior.

Boggin:
When you get unknown devices in Device Manager it's usually because a driver from something else is missing.

It's possible that reinstalling the battery bits may have sorted the unknown devices as they haven't come back.

Go Start - type services.msc and press enter - scroll down to Network Store Interface and ensure it shows as Started and Automatic.

If it's showing as anything else then let me know.

If that is as it should be then there are registry entries to delete but MS has a Fixit for that, but read the Let me fix it myself section as you may have to go back into the icon Customize.

Network Store Interface looks good.
