Unclean tweaking.com presentation
« on: July 25, 2016, 12:10:07 PM »
Hi

My OS is Vista Home Premium; since "Tweaking.com" v3.9.5 (free) and still in v3.9.6, the opened box of the program is changed: there's an outer white edge hiding usefull space at the right side and the bottom.

At the right side, the closing case is about half hidden; at the bottom, the words "Reboot To Safe Mode" and "Buy Pro/Enter Key" are half hidden also.

Beyond this, on top of the box at the left, outside, above the white edge, I can see a repetition of the words "Tweaking.com - Windows Repair v3.9.6 (Free Version)", as they are inside the box at the top left too.

I suppose you would want to correct this.

Regards

Is this in normal or safe mode and can you post a pic of what you are seeing.

You can use the Snipping Tool if you are using a version of Vista higher than Basic.

I don't have any problems in either Win 7 or Win 10.

Normal mode, as you can see.

Check to see if you still get the restricted view in Safe Mode.

If it displays okay in Safe Mode then download your video drivers.

If it's still the same then I'll email Shane to see if he knows why it should display like that in Vista.

I've reported elsewhere that I also get this window display quirk when booting into Safe Mode. For me, clicking on the minimise button and then clicking on the minimised program icon on the task bar re-displays the WR window correctly. I'd be interested to know if doing this also works for Nomad?

Without digging out your thread, is this also in Vista ?

Apologies Boggin - no, Windows 7 - http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,4714.msg34409.html#msg34409

Still seems to be the same problem though.

I was just wondering if it was peculiar to Vista as I haven't had that problem either in Win 7 or 10.

It seems to be more computer specific rather than the program - but what, if it still occurs in Safe Mode ???

I assume you have tried the uninstall/reinstall ?

Yes, have uninstalled /reinstalled before but not with 3.9.6 - I'm on my tablet just now but will do a another u/r when I can get back on the Lenovo. I get the impression there's a window behind the WR window trying to show an error message but it's not possible to display it. It's cleared when the WR window is minimised and the error disappears.

I've had that overlaid error message but couldn't read it.

I just reinstalled on top of the existing install and have never seen it since.

Boggin,

I too normally just install over the existing version but just uninstalled and reinstalled WR AIO 3.9.6 and the minor but irritating problem remains. I don't think I've ever seen a similar problem with any other program so I'd be surprised if it were a video driver problem. And as you say, in Safe Mode it's hard to see what would be interfering with the program.

The thing is, if Shane can't replicate it then he can't fix it.

I understand that. It's no problem - I just posted because it's a quirk I've encountered twice and I thought others might have the same issue.

Right, that works exactly so for me.

And now, after, finally again, getting some Windows updates I was trying to catch for weeks (I replaced my C: disk last June, burnt a Macrium OS image from April to it, and was waiting for the updates) the program opens displaying normally.

Had the program been fixed meanwhile?
