- Yes, rebuilding the Iconcaches (plural, there's more than one) is part of "Repair Icons". But the second link points a whole different Icon problem. And that's not included in that one repair. Don't know if it should be included as well.

Rick:
Interesting...................................

See image attached;

i have no words other than to say,  whats up here?

Willy2:
- Ah. I see the problem. Has this been happening before with this same program ?
- I have seen that the properties of the link(s) generated, point to the wrong folder or file. Then the installation program simply puts a link on the desktop without checking whether or not the link points to the right folder/file. Because the name of the installation folder or the name of the executable has changed and they forgot to update the desktop link. If that's the case then open properties of that *.lnk file and see where that link points to. Then Windows won't be able to pull up and display the appropriate icon.
- I have seen this happen with link of Tweaking programs as well.
- There could be a simple solution. Open the folder where that program is located and manually create a shortcut to the program/file it is supposed to link to and place that shortcut on the desktop.

- This is why one needs to close as much programs as possible. Then the chance of incurrint installation errors shrinks as well.

Rick:
A better idea is to examine why; as it turns out the registry key for office 2007 was pointing to a directory with no icons.

I do believable that copying those icons to the file folder worked Watson.

Reference Zip File Attached a fix-it here rather than re-install everything is highly more efficient...
