Okay.

Well I have been going through my system following your advice checking Device Manager and event viewer and found a few things that might be slowing down the boot process.
I attch 3 Warnings & Errors I found.
In Device manager I see a long list of "E" in portable devices. Those would be external USB drives as I dont have any partitions. Should I uninstall any ?
In Devices & printers again a big list. I imaging these entries / handshakes are from various computers I have had over the years. Can I delete some of them, will they be recreated as required?
Looking forward to your response & thanks for your time.

You will have to Google for how to fix that DCOM 10016 error as they can pop up snagging different components and each have their own fix.
I had it on my laptops after upgrading to Win 10 and it didn't seem to be causing any problems that I was aware of.
If you click on Details for that error then copy & paste the CLSID and APPID details into a Google search, usually some links will be found.
I'm interested in what it gives for that DHCPv6 Client error though.
That could be slowing the computer in connecting to the Internet.
TCP/IPv6 can be unchecked in each of the adapter's Properties as generally, ISPs don't support TCP/IPv6 yet and could be already disabled in the router.
To do it in the computer, go Start - type ncpa.cpl and press enter then right click on each of the adapters and select Properties.
You can then uncheck the box for (TCP/IPv6) - OK
This article will help you get rid of any old drivers in Device Manager by right clicking on those with greyed out icons next to them and selecting Uninstall.

Re: Event 501 Desk top manager is experiencing heavy resourse contention.
In the Intel HD 4000 properties I have driver v. 10.18.10.4425 currently installed.
I updated on 9/02/17.using the Intel auto scan / update.
When on the Events tab I "View all events" it takes me to Event viewer error 501.
So I see a connection here at last. The first time stamp is dated 27/09/2015 which I imagine is the original Acer Intel driver. I have got the Acer driver that this unit shipped with (VGA_Intel_9.17.10.2867_W8x64U_A.zip) so I can reinstall this 2 year old driver, run WEI and see its value.
What is best practice for reinstalling the original and removing all traces of the more recent Intel updates?
