stuck on "Checking that all needed files are in the program folder and haven't"

<< < (3/4) > >>

Docfxit:
During the network connection resets I received this error:
An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The sy
stem cannot find the file specified.

The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for
this operation.

The latest CBS.log is attached:
Still shows: PendingRenames
How can I resolve them?

It appears to have started working after this command:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow

Thank you very much for all your help.

Boggin:
Yes, occasionally the Virtual Adapters can cause DHCP problems so you end up with no connection.

You may well find a DHCP error in Event Viewer.

I don't see anything in that CBS log that would give me cause for concern - it's when it reports it cannot do something that you have problems.

Did that sfc /scannow report it was unable to repair some items and was that sfc /scannow run before you regained connectivity or after ?

If you ran it before regaining connectivity, can you run it again to see what it reports.

Docfxit:
I just ran sfc /scannow.
It shows this error:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
If you look at the cbs.log with:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %Drive%\Windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log >"%~dp0sfcdetailsErrors.txt"
notepad "%~dp0sfcdetailsErrors.txt"

You won't see any errors.
If you look at the CBS.log file you will see:
PendingRenames

How can I clear that up?

Thanks,
Docfxit

Boggin:
I think Disk Cleanup run as an admin should clear those.

Go Start - type disk cleanup then right click on Disk Cleanup and select Run as administrator.

This will also give you the option to clean out obsolete Windows Updates from the WinSxS folder and can free up a few GB, so depending upon how much it does clean out, you may want to follow that up with a defrag.

I'm not sure however how those temp files could be stopping Windows Repair from loading though.

Give it another try after running Disk Cleanup.

You could also run another sfc /scannow to see if it still reports those temp files.

Docfxit:
Thanks for the reply.

Disk Cleanup didn't clean those files up.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Docfxit
