stuck on "Checking that all needed files are in the program folder and haven't"
Boggin:
There seems to be some missing from the bottom of the log, but from what it has reported, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong.
Did the sfc still report corruption ?
Docfxit:
Yes.
It said there is corruption. When looking at the CBS.log it shows problems.
I just ran SFCFix.exe while logged in as Administrator. This is the output I received.
--- Code: ---Welcome to SFCFix by niemiro and sysnative.com.
Checking for updates . . .
Failed to check for updates. This may be due to an internet connection problem
or a temporary availability failure of the update servers. Please ensure you are
using the latest version of the program before continuing or exit now . . .
--- End code ---
Thank you,
Docfxit
PS: I am logged in remotely. So I know the internet connection is working.
Boggin:
It could be the server on their end which could have also accounted for it running for so long.
Download and run the appropriate version of the System Update Readiness Tool.
This can repair other things besides update problems.
The 64bit version is a 533MB download so it may be worth selecting Save on the download should you need to run it again.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/947821/fix-windows-update-errors-by-using-the-dism-or-system-update-readiness
Scroll down the page to select either of the first two depending upon whether you are running 32 or 64bit.
Its log can be found in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS then double click on the Checksur one which can also be posted.
Did your machine come with Win 7 Pro or was it installed ?
Docfxit:
I installed the System Update Readiness Tool. It installed successfully.
I don't see anything in All Programs. Windows Professional came pre installed on this machine.

I have run Windows Repair All In One.
I still can't connect to the internet with Firefox, Pegasus Email and IE.
Thanks,

Boggin:
In your Reply #6 you say the Internet is working ?
Not sure now why you say it isn't.
I still need to see the full CBS log as the one you posted wasn't complete.
Are you able to connect in either of those browsers in Safe Mode with Networking ?
This mode will isolate all 3rd party programs including your antivirus program which can block connectivity.
Have you run the Internet troubleshooter to see what that reports ?
When you have Internet connectivity problems, they are usually recorded in Event Viewer.
A couple or so cmds run from a cmd prompt run as an admin can also resolve connectivity problems and they are -
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /registerdns
shutdown /r /t 00
and see what it's like after the reboot.
You will get an error on the ipconfig /renew if you don't have the machine wired up.
Internet connectivity is also dependent upon the following services set to a specific way and other than the Wired AutoConfig should show as running.
Can you go Start - type services.msc and press enter then check the status of the following services to this list -
Their startup type should be Automatic or Manual
COM+ Event System
Computer Browser
DHCP Client
DNS Client
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Server
TCP/IP Netbios helper
Wired Autoconfig is set to manual.
WLAN AutoConfig (Vista/7 wireless configurations only)
Workstation
This is a list of how all of your services should be - https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/236709-services-restore-default-services-windows-7-a.html
Sometimes connectivity problems are caused by other things in the computer.
One is (TCP/IPv6) being checked in the adapter's Properties and another can be the MS Virtual Wireless Adapter.
It can also be a DNS problem.
Go Start type ncpa.cpl and press enter.
Right click on whichever adapter you are using and select Properties.
Uncheck the box for (TCP/IPv6) then click on (TCP/IPv4) and then on Properties.
Click on the lower button for Use the following DNS servers and in the top row type 209.244.0.3 then tab down and enter 209.244.0.4 in the lower row.
Check the box to Validate settings upon exit - OK - Close where the troubleshooter should run.
The troubleshooter may have already reported a DNS problem and if so, changing the DNS servers should resolve.
Those are Level3's DNS servers which are the ones I use.
As for the MS Virtual Wireless Adapter - if you don't use a VPN then you don't need it and it can be disabled with the following cmd run from an admin cmd prompt.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow
It can be reinstated by changing disallow to allow
Enter exit to close the cmd window.
You would reboot to see if it made any difference.
