Question about heic files
henrwn:
Got a new iPhone 8 two months ago and the storage is short so i am preparing backing up them to computer. When the device connected to PC and are .heic files in DCIM folder. How can I view or open them in Windows 10?
Boggin:
It isn't something I'm familiar with as I don't have a mobile phone of any description.
However, on researching this, Win 10 doesn't support .heic files yet, although this is in the pipeline.
This article though gives some suggestions in how you can convert them until they are fully supported.

as the post suggests, converting to jpg seems the only way  I doubt the quality would be worse than orginal
Boggin:
Let us know the outcome about the quality, but as things stand, the options seem to be limited.
GabrielleReid:
There's no update regarding .heic file support in any version of Windows yet. But you can definitely convert images online or even in the phone through some apps. But there might be some quality degradation.
