Windows 8.1 has a registry hive called components, this is what windows updates and I know windows backup uses, the error is telling you that it is corrupt. My windows repair doesnt target that hive, but I am all for finding fixes for it that i can add.

First, have you done a chkdsk on the drive yet? It is possible it is just a simple file system error and a chkdsk could correct it.

I'm a techie but lazy one, been arounh putters since 1970(IBM 360, Univac, DSTE1000), first apples. This app has 2 features to it:

less that 5 min probs solved, I know bout hives, I was looking@ 'em & working 'em before u were born!!!
