Files on desktop have been deleted

well, i did a chkdsk /f /r c: , nothing out of the ordinary, same for the sfc/scannow

I've run startup repair multiple times, it stated that there was an error and it could not repair.

Anyway, since the user needs his computer, i've decided to stop wasting more time and reinstalled windows, we'll see wether or not the problem happens again.

Okay - Occasionally not being able to boot up after running the repair program occurs and the only solution usually is a clean install.

I'll pass this onto Shane with a link to your thread.
