The USB/DVD tool is just a program to create either a bootable disk or USB

You could format the USB then use the USB/DVD tool to load just the ISO onto the USB.

That ISO that you downloaded included SP1 whereas the 2011 disk may not.

When you've created the new USB, shutdown, insert the USB then tap F12 as you switch on.

You can then use the cursor keys to select the USB drive then hit enter.

This will take you to the Install screen where you click on Repair your computer.

Navigate to the Command Prompt and enter those cmds I've previously posted, or you can boot the machine up, go Start - click on Computor - insert the USB and double click on its drive.

This will open to its files where you would then double click on Setup Application which will perform the repair install, but you will need to find the product key first.

Stand by.  Need a little time.

Okay - ask if you need any help, but the instructions are pretty clear.

Tom - please excuse the delay in responding.  Not truly wanting to reinstall o/s, I ran some more scans.  Then did a Tweaking reinstall, and it got past opening screen.  Ran in safe mode, w/o battery, and All steps.

Got errors on chkdsk.  On reboot reran with/F.  Also got errors Repair Reparse Points or Repair Environment Variables tools, and ran fixes.  (attached).  Then, on main repair it seemed to stop and reboot to normal b4 I thought it had ended.  As I now have Pro version I was not able to use the last 2 tabs.  What would you recommend checking in Pro tabs?

I am selective on check-marked Service, either because I don't use some services like MS Firewall, or because I don't want some services put back to default (attached).  Please tell me if I'm wrong.

I want you to know that Tweaking.com is so well written for the consumer.  Please share with developer.
Only comment is that "Open in Safe Mode" also shows while already in safe mode.

Regards.  Gary

Hi Gary,

You can get errors when running a chkdsk from within the program as it doesn't run with any parameters..

It's best to run a Command Prompt as an admin and enter chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r

What did the chkdsk /f report ?

WR can act strange if it finds something wrong with the HDD.

I don't understand what you mean by the last two tabs.

WR has a standard UI so it will show to boot into Safe Mode.

Did you boot up with the install USB and run those cmds before running WR ?
