A clean and ready 1TB external drive can only take a few files the message I get says there isn't enough space showing the C: OS but its clearly the E drive I've tried everything I know. I'm sleep deprived and can't function well enough to work this out. The laptop drive is so full I need to put my files on the external drive so it can function properly again. After I tried to fix the external the external drive doesn't appear on the disk management

What does that mean?  What specifically did you do to "fix" the external drive?

The problem that I see looking at your first screen image is that you are trying to copy too much at one time.  Your C: drive is full, so there is virtually no space for the creation of the temporary files needed to complete the copy operation.  Moreover, you want to move the files to the external drive, not just copy them, if you hope to free up space on your C: drive.

Good luck.  Have a great day.
