I downloaded the two items you mentioned and tried to install them, but got the message  'Cannot install, wrong OS or OS version'.

It looks like it could be one of those things that I just have to live with, until I can upgrade!!

If it is an old tower you have you might have an AGP or pci express port on the motherboard where you could buy and put a video card and use that instead :wink:

It is an old tower, Shane.  In computer terms - antique!

Using Piriform Speccy I find that I do have a spare pci slot.  Checking on Amazon UK I find there are hundreds of types of video cards ranging in price from (UK pounds) 12 to well into the hundreds!

I may just try one of the cheap cards and hope for the best.

Many thanks for your help.  As an octogenarian I find that I can still learn, with the right support. Thank you.

Good to know That I'm not alone in the "antique" PC world  :wink:

Take a look on Freecycle http://www.uk.freecycle.org/  Maybe post a "wanted"? I've picked up loads of really useful bits and pieces there that people are only too glad to find a new home. Both my machines are recycled and so too are all the internal upgrades in them, and thanks to Shane's great work both run lean, clean and stable  :smiley:
