Title: backup vista PC to a shared network drive
Post by: Rick on August 14, 2013, 01:48:29 am
Hi Everyone:

Looking at some help to resolve this network backup issue:

I could not backup my vista PC to a shared network drive using vista backup.

One solution found was too; solution was to copy the following files from the Windows server 2003 "windows\system32" folder so that they were accessable from my client vista machines:

 ntbackup.exe
 ntmsapi.dll
 vssapi.dll

However, I do not have these,

Shane, do you them that you could send so we can attempt to have a try

thanks in advance

Windows 2003 files on vista? I would think the system file checker would end up replacing them anyways.

I can grab those files if you need them. Have you thought about using a different backup instead? I myself use the free version of FBackup.

Hi shane,

As I know, there is only one of those files missing and the other ones are the same, the system should not replace them and if it does, they are the same. if you have, would appreciate it!

also, have a reference link for me to check or download the Fbackup?

thank you

Here are those 3 files from my Windows 2003 R2 SP2 box.

And here is a link to fbackup :-)
http://www.fbackup.com/

I should consider making my own backup tool someday.
