Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: Windows Repair v3.9.23 stops at repairing

The problem with explorer.exe is fixed.
Disabled manually all services that belongs to "COMODO Firewall" and rebooted. The system runs now normally in normal mode and we were able to run the uninstaller of "COMODO Firewall" successfully.

Thanks for the help.

An update on the issues with this machine:
- A Windows 10  in-place install didn't fix the issue. Explorer still crashes in normal mode.
- High fan speed only in normal mode is fixed, this was due high temperatures at the graphics CPU. The fan/CPU was very dusty.

In 'normal mode', the explorer crashes. Windows keeps running.
In 'just safe mode' and 'safe mode with network', Windows crashes completely after 5 minutes.

4
Not installed yet, he should run it in normal mode.

I'm also thinking that there is a problem with the hard disk, so I instructed the owner to run 'HD Tune' and scan for errors.
I'll wait and see what the result will be and post it here.

6
The machine crashes on both: 'normal safe mode' and 'safe mode with network'.

Just for clarity, when you used msconfig, did you also check the Network box as well or just the Safe boot one ?
Safe mode with Network. I will check if 'normal safe boot' will make a difference.

Also go into Device Manager/View/Show hidden devices and look for any yellow alerts, including in System Devices.
There are none.

Can you check Event Viewer to see if anything relates to the crash.
I don't see anything wrong at the time Windows_Repairs was run.

Does the machine still crash in Safe Mode even when not running any programs ?
Yes.

Did you use the program to boot to Safe Mode or boot to Safe Mode with Networking and then run the program ?
MSCONFIG was used to select Safe Mode, not Windows_Repairs.

Have you created a Win 10 install disk that you can boot up with ?
No, I'm not the owner of this machine.

Chkdsk c: /r stops at about 10%.
Chkdsk c: /f completes successfully.
SFC /scannow already done: no errors found.
CrystalDiskInfo reports no problem with drive C:

Hi,

On a computer that has problems running explorer.exe, Windows_Repairs stops when item 03 or 04 are checked.
THe computer crashes in Safe Mode after 5 minutes so Safe Mode is not an option.
Attached 2 logfiles of Windows_Repairs.

How can I solve this issue with Windows_Repairs ?

Thanks, PeterJ
