Just tried ERUNT under Windows 8 and it doesn't work. The new increased security crap prevents it from creating files under C:\Windows\ERDNT.
Your Registry backup works fine though.

On Windows 8 myself.
Only because I run a computer repair business and I know I will have customers calling lol.
To be honest there are some nice core changes I like. I use classic shell to get my start menu back and haven't even touched metro. I will be setting up classic shell for my users when they freak out lol.
Oh by the way, in case you didnt know. I always have the UAC off on my system. Well turns out UAC cant be turned off all the way. You have to set a reg key to turn it off completely.
When you do it wont let you use the Windows store, which I dont use anyways.
Other than the few core changes, the the UI changes it feels like I am still on 7. Going to be a big curve for normal users though.

Shane, what is the key? I don't use Metro at all either and would dearly love to get UAC truly gone!

Here you go
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"EnableLUA"=dword:00000000

Thanks, done. Reboot and pray it really does the job this time.
I am getting real tired of all the Access denied error messages.

Worked for me :-)

I'll bet that would allow ERUNT to 2work again as well.

It might, give it a try :-)

Yup, worked perfectly. I uninstalled it again as I prefer your Registry Backup but it's good to know that UAC is truly disabled now.

Glad I could help :-)

Another backup program you can test it, but does not support Windows 8 http://smartregistry.tk/

That doesn't look like anything I'm interested in. I've never needed to backup specific registry keys to import at a later date. With me it's an all or nothing approach.
