Mozilla Developer Network Docs (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Chrome_Registration) should help you understand what chrome is.

Problem arises when restoring from old restore points;
restore doesn't restore previous Firefox logins restore points and visited urls...
it does happen to create an old Firefox data file on my desktop though?

That folder might be all you need to import the missing data: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings
