WR CHECK DISK TOOL
it scans the disk but does not inform about the cleanup of the security descriptors, please add the Verbose options for NTFS.
issue2:
Please add UTF-8 because it does not display Polish characters correctly,

The chkdsk function in the repair program only executes it in read-only mode so does not do any repairs.
You would need to manually perform a chkdsk /f or /r
I'll pass on your complaint about the language though.

Yes, it's just about checking the disk, without any repair!
How to check (in a few seconds) huge hard drives in read-only mode like Drive Medic (System Mechanic 15.5)?
The function without / f - works extremely slowly.
CHKDSK /I /C (without /F !) = Extreme slow
Test:
Drive Medic check 100.000.000 Files (1 MB per 1 file) = It checked in a few minutes !!! 10000% superfast
-
Then use that - I'm quite happy with the speed Windows does it on my 640GB and 1TB drives.
Your original complaint was that the chkdsk in WR wasn't doing what you thought it should be doing and I've explained why.

Windows 10 64bit on hp
Trying the check disk tool at start up with repair option,
but is seems to be stuck at "drive C 10% complete"
so is this normal and is it still scanning and repairing or is it stuck?
if its stuck, how do I safely get out of the scan please?
Thank you, much appreciated

Hi and welcome to the forum but you should open your own thread when having problems.
To cancel the chkdsk press CTRL+c then enter exit to close the command window.
It does sound as though it has hit a problem even though it is just in read-only mode, but rather than tying your machine up with a chkdsk /f or /r download the 30 day Trial version of HDSentinel.
https://www.hdsentinel.com/download.php
Use the first of the Limited Trial versions and then you can uninstall it when done to stop the clock on it and then run it again as and when you want to use it.
This program will give a written report on the health and performance of any SSD/HDDs internal or external as fitted.
If either is below 100% then you should create a system image onto external media ASAP in preparation for complete failure, but let me know what it reports.

The BITMAP attribute of the main file table (MFT) is incorrect.
The bitmap of the volume is not valid.
Windows found problems with the file system.
To correct them, run the CHKDSK program with the /F (repair) option.
Why is the attribute incorrect, why is it sometimes so? Although the disk SSD is always "healthy" (Hard Disk Sentinel).
Can NTFS file system repair damage some user files, e.g. music, photos?
During the second check (without repair /F) it was found that no problems were found, so what's going on?

Who knows with Windows why these things happen when the SSD/HDD are found to be healthy.
I would suggest you run a chkdsk /f or /r to see if that also resolves your music and photo file problems.
You could follow that with a sfc /scannow to see what it reports as to the file system, although it cannot repair all files as Shane has pointed out.

"/r" is of course never required if the disk is operational and the clusters and sectors are undamaged.
One of the main reason behind this error is that when Volume shadow copy (VSS) gets invoked then it may be possible that volume bitmap values do not accurately reflect the used clusters.
