can update from a dvd to try and fix
sfc does not operate
-
Sounds like a lot of odd problems.
What version of Windows?
Shane
-
thanks for the contact
windows 7
I think some of the problem originated with a silly virus program that I had to remove
also since upgrading nvidai software it hshows a audio section thats not activated , this could have caused the sound card not to activate , dont realy know
tried everything I can think of
-
A repair install might be a good idea. It isnt a fresh install, you keep all your programs and such.
To do that you need a Windows 7 with SP1, you can get it here
https://sites.google.com/site/linuxlablibrary/windows-iso
And then just follow this guide on how to do a repair install
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
Sounds like your problems are deep in the registry, the repair install might fix that since most of the registry is rebuilt during the repair install.
Shane
-
it wont do a re install from the disc either from boot or in the program
cant do a sfc /scandisc
-
gettin this on most web sites
add on wont run on this web site see internet options .
I think its java , tried to reinstll thats works but did not fix the problem
-
What happens when you try the repair install? What is the error?
Shane
-
something like cant write file , next time try installing latest version
install updates whist on line
I did all that even changed a version with a friend same sesult
-
can we try some reg fix please look at the photos
audio the sound shows no audio device installed
the 2 photos show the story
the modem d\link is running but look at both photos its was stange why on network or home
if we can fix these its a start
-
as for the updats the error is 800737712
it requires a system repair program then run it loads in a hotfix
and changes nothing
still no updates
-
hi xenon
How did you try sfc command
The correct command is sfc /scannow in Run command as administrator
Try it. Otherwise, repair install as advised by shane is the only option. Sfc command tries to restore the missing dll and system protected files for the system from its store installation. It is better to repair windows not reinstall . It will definitely solve the problem.
-
The fact that a repair install wont even start tells me there are a lot of deep problems and we could take a ton of time trying to find out what.
There are over 1 million keys in the registry. Trying to find which ones need replaced will be a nightmare. I would rather try the repair install and get it working as it will do a TON for us.
Any chance you can get a screen shot of the error for me?
Shane
-
sfc /scannow will not work
java in 64 wont install
as for the screen shop will re do that and past it up
any idears why the sound wonyt switch on
-
ok what happens in the upgrade
I allow the program to update from the internet then it copies all files to the hard drive
then it comes up with a messge
restatr the program this tim ealow the program to up date from the internet
is a circle
why would java only install 32 bit not 64 ?
-
Have you seen thread. It gives support to 64 bits, but offline download. what is wrong in downloading offline download?
-
off line download sound good wheres the thread please
-
Please see this link
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7-downloads-1880261.html
-
humm
look at the picture attachment
is looks for a file thats not on the computer
-
Hi, do you mean that you could not download from that java link.
I could download the same file for windows 64bit, the last but one in the list meant for windows x86 64 bit
i have not received any installer error
-
the last two on the list
the bottom one is a zip with a massive amount of file and all try to run under dos command so lead me though that one please
the result of the second to bottom you have
-
the one on 29.27 mb
-
the result see above HUMM result
-
The system is really screwed up for some reason.
I have to check your past posts, but did you check the hard drive for bad sectors yet?
Shane
-
sure have .... I cant just install a new version to much programs to loose , some cant be replaced
-
Is there anyway possible you can get me a screen shot of picture of the exact error when you try to do the repair install?
And before you try the repair install again try uninstalling your antivirus to make sure it isnt getting in the way. Also I know the repair install will write to the boot sector so the setup can continue. If there is a boot sector virus that could be stopping it.
Shane
-
all anyvirus programs are removed first
no screen capture works that I know of on a install as its a dedicated screen of windows
looks like I have toput up with these problems
any suggestins on the audio you have photos of that problem
also the net connection
removing those two coupld assist
-
Problem is the are so many problems inside windows that we could be wasting a ton of time trying to fix those 2 when other things might be the cause.
Do you have a cell phone you could take a picture of the error for me at all? Or check and see if the setup made a log file I could read?
Shane
-
will do
try thi shot
-
Windows is in need of a reinstall bad. A lot of deep problems.
the SFC cant even run. And the repair reinstall wont either.
A fresh install would be best but I know how that is a pain. Our best bet is to find out why the repair install wont work and get it going. That repair install will fix a ton of these problems, as long as they are not hardware related :-)
Shane
-
same as before
try ti reinstall windows again this time be on the internet and down load updates
This is what I do
-
Sorry did really understand what you meant in the last post bud :-)
Shane
-
once the 64 java is downloaded this happens when trying to run it
The java screen askes where on the computer it is to be installed , then this is the next screen see attachment photo ????
-
windows update
with w7 update
The install statrts and askes one to update any latest versions, I do this it updaes a file then continues to install , it copies all files . then the message apears
Restart the install again this time when asked to install new updates do so ...
its a circle
-
You only need 64bit java for 64bit browsers, otherwise just install the 32 bit version.
And looks like MSI is messed up for it and you simply need to remove it from the windows installer, you can use this to do that
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml
Shane
-
down loaded that its shows many programs so what do you mean by MSI is messed up ?????
-
MSI installer is the main source of downloading of many programs to your computer. It is microsoft office installer to install or uninstall many programs. If it is corrupted, then most of the program would not get installed and report error. This is true of java also.
I think that your computer needs fresh install altogether.
Your posts show, recurring of different problems at different times of posting. I had also had msi problem which could not be fixed by anything other than fresh install.
-
MSI installer how deos one try and fix this
-
There are repair tools available for msi installer, but if your registry entries are corrupted, it is not easy to repair with those programs. You could also may not able to see it in plain english in registry. There are millions of entries regarding msi, and that path could not be easily accessible. The main source of installer , if corrupted, could not be repaired with available tools.
So, it is better that you attempt fresh install which will remove all the system agony.I have tried deeply in to this, by going to the registry entries, it will be in coded words, not in plain english and nothing worked for me. Registry repair tool should have worked well, it replaces the default entries for all the registry main and subkeys, but it is not possible to delete those entries, created by the infected programs. So those key entries are there to create more problems. Fresh install is the best possible, or otherwise, repair install would be the last option to try.
-
what the problem if i try and over install with w8 , does the problems follow
-
Frankly i do not above windows 8, recent release.
But windows 7 has all the support, and full fledged release.
sevenforum and other sites deal mostly with windows seven forums.
Many automated tools and trouble shoot available.
For me it is the best supported. It automatically fixes so many problems, it has trouble shoot which is a useful tool for particular problem. It automates updated drivers for the hardware for workable condition.Sevenforums have unlimited topics of help, besides pcsupport com.
In lighter vein, Why does not exhause the earlier features , than trying improved versions which are in beta stages
-
can anyone solve solve this windows protection problem I think this should cure a lot of my problems
see attachment
-
Sorry for the late reply, my wife had our baby :-)
Sfc cant be fixed, it has to do with the winsxs folder and no known way to repair it except for a reinstall.
As for the cleanup tool. It is meant to remove an entry from the msi installer when you are unable to.
In this case java wont install because msi sees it as already installed but the install information is corrupt. So by removing java from the windows installer, the next time you try to install it the windows installer wont think it is installed and will install it fresh.
Shane
-
For sfc /scannow not working, windows repair install is the only option. It seems that your msinstaller both program and registry entries are corrupt, or some files accidentally deleted this to function.Pl see this link and try to repair install
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
-
thanks I have tried to do a upgrade but is stops and suggestes that next tim use the internet to get the latest update then re try
but that a loop going no were . it just wont update
-
Where you able to find the setup log to find out what the error was with the repair install?
Shane
-
where would that hide
-
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744583%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
Shane
-
whilst i take a look for the log
this is an device manager
see networks
how can i get ride of the not wanted drivers , delete wont work
-
Hi I am trying to help you
Shane meant the log file of system fatal error of install repair.
But you have given the print screen of the device manager. Pl enclose the log of the fatal error. You can uninstall all the exclamatory devices and then try to reboot, so that you see the problem still exist. If it is so, then you have to deeply analyse the event id in the event viewer.
You could also try to run msinfo32.exe to get to the system information, and click problematic drivers over there and see what is giving the problem.
-
I realise that but trying other bits to solve what i can here is the result of this problem now how to solve the way to get ride of them

Pl see this article , a lot of solution or workaround is given
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314357

Holy crap my man lol The amount of things broken on your system is crazy and I am impressed the system is still running!
To be totally honest a fresh install would be the best for you. Back up your data and if you do a fresh install make sure to destroy the partition and recreate it in the windows setup, this way if you had any kind of boot record virus it would get destroyed.
If my customer came to me with your machine a fresh install is the fastest and best way to get you working back to normal again. You dont just have one problem you have tons!
Shane
-
it might seam strange to you but I am enjoying working through the problems , also I have some programs that cant be replaced with a new install , dont have the disc any more and its required in movie process
I have located all the miniport s in regeded and removed then , the device manager is now clean
The audio is turned on in the service but stll the audio device is not turned on, thats a mistory
I thinnk a problem is somehow tied up with who is the admistrator do alow a update .
the computer shows I and a administrator on bootup now and there are two different desktop arrangements ,,,this could be a throw back from a few years ago when I had two different version running on two drives, that was a advice from windows to cure a another problem a fresh install , then remove the old windows .
There is no evedence of the old windows on the other drive now , so maby thats only a assumption of mine
so now having what apears to be two different operators and the same faults are on both log-ons could one be effecting the other ??
I hate windws 8 so at this stage thats not a option ,,, will play about , its still operational anyway just a few hickups
-
The repair install would allow you to keep your programs, but isnt guaranteed.
And I agree it is more fun to try and fix things. Every problem I have come across I have refused to give up on, after 18 years you get a lot of experience that way lol
But the problem is I dont have the machine in front of me to look and work on things. So with the large amount of problems you have I dont think you will be able to get it 100% again but you can definitely get it workable.
Problem is, helping over a forum I dont know what the next best thing for you to try is lol
Shane
-
I have tries a majoc want but that only gets the blue screen of death :)
the sound got me wacked it does not matter whats pluged into the front or back sockets its never shows in the system as operational always disabled.
The d-link modem is operational but again it showes as not conneted to any network .... no home group shows and the make home group is greyed out as not a option
no fault in the hardrives
all cleaned of virus and the like
reg shows as no faults
-
Hi I am also of the firm opinion, that you could reinstall windows 7 ultimate, which is a full fledged release of microsoft to your computer, rather than trying to fix .It is workable, but easily could be compromised if there is security holes in while trying fixes.
Now you say your audio and network is not working. There are windows files, which gets corrupted by virus, trojan, generic , autorun.inf and what not.
Just reinstall fresh and make your computer more secure. The fix would work, but the fix other than genuine sites would also "fix"your computer as a easy target.
I am one like you, and it gave me problems of hacking my account and unwanted popups.
-
if only it could be upgraded so amny problem will vanish ... as explained re read what I have stated
-
java after removal and installing 64 version it installs , then goes to veriforcation screen and thats all its a plank section no veriforcation
as for the update problem this might be a answer
the log on is only i no otheres sharing I would have thought that then I was the administrator , but some of the fixes say other wise
how can this be changed to every thing i do is in admistrator
-
re java afre removiing and installing 64 version it goes to a veriforacion screen but it shows a blank square instead of the aproval.
now as to the upgrade this might be a factor
some fixes show I am not the administrator, there is no other logon only mine , so how can this be , how can i make every thing i do be in adminustator
-
Hi Create one user account as administrator, not standard user and you could access all the files. If some body also works on the computer, and he has given limited permissions to you, then you could not access. If you are the administrator, then there should be some corruption in user profile, which is one of the other major topic like winsxs folder.
Just create one account and log in that account to access
-
as stated i should be the admisitrator whats this winsxs folder
-
You need not worry about this folder. It is microsoft folder, which will provide a missing file, if it is not found in the store to fix corrupted system protected files. What i suggested is to create another account in the same computer, as administrator. If even, after having the rights of admin, if you are facing some problems, this is because of some corruption of your current user profile which could not be fixed that easily. By creating a account as admin, a separate user folders will be created in c: users and it will create the necessary folders afresh, so that you do not have any problem in accessing. ok
-
tried that i have now two log ons and still the update wont work in the new admisitrator
-
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2008/09/17/what-is-the-winsxs-directory-in-windows-2008-and-windows-vista-and-why-is-it-so-large.aspx
Worth the read and you will see why when SFC is broken and the winsxs is broken a reinstall is the only way to fix that.

getting stranger
I had to use a repair disc to rebbot the computer
if found a windows on B drive but easy bcd shows C where it is
some time back I hav a second windows on b but removed it
perhaps it was not all removed and thhis cound be why it wont update as it find b drive
there is a outdate hiberfil.sys still on B and that cant be remover l
-
Can you post a screen shot?
Shane
-
it simply states in the bax : fould windws ultra in drive B
-
I mean in Windows if you can take a screen shot of the contents of drive B so I can see what is on there and why it thinks windows is there.
Shane
-
done
-
I see folders there from windows being on that drive, dont see the windows folder though.
I also wonder if the boot sector on the drive is still set for windows and might be why it is being seen as a windows drive.
Shane
-
easy bcd does not see b as a bootable drive for windows only c
-
It is better that you fresh install the windows.
-
upgrade would be prefered but thts not possible at this time , fresh install would loose to many non replacable programs
-
hi-xenon
I also agree repair install would be the best course. But it depends on not only the dvd you have in your disk.
Upgrade will not work, if suppose, you update any service pack in the system which is not present in your dvd. There is no other option. You cannot roll back your service pack. There will be no of solutions, but no one will work. I have tried slip streaming techniques, but it is not working. There are plenty of programs in this regard which will not work, because, if you updated your service pack, there is a back up file created and all the files are stored in different system folders. There by, if you insert and get in to the menu of upgrade, it will check your dvd which is lower version, when compared to the hard disk which is having higher version. So, there will be a message showing that the version you are trying to upgrade is already present in the system and it will not go any further. I hope you understand this. I have tried slip streaming thro the techniques, by trying to remove the service pack already installed. There is no solution for this. Once installed, it is not possible to remove from the system, because it will not allow you and you will be given error message, whatever the solution you come across. So, only i advise you to fresh install, though you lose your other programs.
Hi Shane, would not system tool's Windows easy transer would come in help for mr.xenon to copy the entire thing to another computer and then reinstall fresh os in the problematic computer. I will also try another solutions, if any, in copying safely all the programs to another computer.
Hi xenon, there is Windows easy transfer a tool available in Windows 7, which will just allow to copy all the contents of the computer to another computer in a easy way. You have to go to Run command, and then type migwiz and you can see the wizard helping you all the way. I do not know, whether it keeps the program in c drive. Please note that nothing is deleted from old computer, when copying ok. This may help you even in transfering your user accounts to the new computer. Googling for help, will enable to find whether the user programs could be transfered. I will also try to add.
-
realy appresiated all the assistance
I dnt have another compyter to transfer
I installed wise care and for some reasons it now downloads windows update file even though it shows it cant nessage in the control pannel
the net now runs at full speed and this also shows in the control pannel no network
might try a lot of these programs possible that one could fix anothe part the sound
-
It is well nigh impossible if you do not have a computer
-
Its a problem for a lot of people. They have a program they MUST have and they lost the installer for it and the program is to old to get a copy of.
Sooner or later, like when the hard drive dies the user will have no choice but to move on. But until that is forced you wont get a user to do it lol
When a program is installed it all depends on the program, but files, regkeys and all sorts get modified and added to the system. thats why you cant just move it to a new system. Thats one reason why people love portable versions of programs, no installer needed as it has every thing it needs in the folder.
But almost all older programs are not that way and will have a ton of things added to the system for it to work. MS office is a good example.
So right now xenon is in a tight spot. A broken OS that is limping along but all those programs that cant get reinstalled. Only thing he can do before reinstalling is try everything possible to fix what is broken. But the bad news is the core of Windows is broken and one thing after another is failing.
Instead of trying to find a way to avoid a reinstall I say focus on finding a way to get your programs moved and workable! Would be easier and better at this point.
Shane
-
in the real worl all is fixable: apreciate your comments and advice
the problem is mine are dedicated programs that are movie orinated that work , two of them are no longer availabe more the pity and so far no other company has come close to replicate
-
Hi Shane thanks for the clarification and now i am well informed. Thank you once again
-
OH boy we do have fun :)
refer to the sound problem see the attachment set before
I removed the sound cand via the bios and then all references to it in windows , drivers
purchased a stand alone card and its drivers, once installed in its own program its has a test buttom for the speakers , hitting it it produces sound great
the problem is no windows program sees it in the control pannel of the speakers it shows the audio devise is not installed
and in the problem solution it show audio disabled. in the service both audio are running
-
Go to sounds in the control panel and post a screen shot for me, I want to see what is set as the default playback device.
Shane
-
as requested
also the task manager is not showing full any more
must have done sometihng to it by mistake
-
this is the problem once a right click on the device it locks up the screen in sound
-
as requested
also the task manager is not showing full any more
must have done sometihng to it by mistake
Just double click the border and it will come back :-)
And I was hoping for a screen shot like this one
Shane
-
i did post it but here it is again
-
I need the whole window. The microphone shouldnt be on the playback section just like you dont see it in my screen shot, it should be on the recording tab. So I need a screen of the whole window so I can see what your in and what tab.
Shane
-
here is all there is
-
and this one
-
OK on the playback tab, right click in the list and click on show disabled devices. And post a screen shot for me.
Shane
-
can capture the second screen it show disable device ticked
-
OK then. I had a customer who had no sound and he had the wrong device set as default and had disabled his correct one, so I wanted to double check that on yours.
Shane
-
any idear why this and the other card is staying disables from windows
-
I havent seen that problem before, is the windows audio service running?
Shane
-
sure is try this here is the new card controler using it the speaker work left & right
no other program give sound
-
how can i get task manager fully opened again
-
how can i get task manager fully opened again
Double click the outside border
