Can't install any APP's from the store. Keep getting an error code of 0x80070426
-
Have you tried the repair in my Windows repair tool yet?
Shane

Thanks for the info. I corrected the windows store problem myself thru the command prompt
-
Did you do the same commands my repair tool does or did you use a different command that I might be able to add to the repair?

Used the following on Command Prompt dism.exe /online / cleanup- image /scanhealth
After this finish it indicated that corruption on the store was detected. Then I used the
following Command Prompt dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When this finish it indicated that the corruption was repaired.
However, this was only a temp fix to the problem. Just about every day the same problem
occurs and the windows store is corrupted again. Can't install any APS and SKYPE will not
open. Therefore I put SKYPE on my desktop and I works just fine. Looking for a solution to
fix this corruption of the windows store. Any ideas anyone?

Sorry for the late reply, my wife had our baby :-)
Since you can run it from the desktop it sounds like it is a permissions problem, since things ran from the desktop dont normally need admin rights.
I wonder if you might have something on the system that is continually changing or messing with permission on the system, a virus would do that of course, but other programs could as well.
The commands you are doing is what the repair is doing and yet later it is messed up again.
What tools have you used to scan your system with?

I ran your program but it did not fix the problem. I have Malwarebytes Pro which I run to scan my system. A couple of other temporary fixes that I have tried are on the CMD Prompt typed wsreset. In addition I have disconnected my Microsoft account and established a Local account. Then re-established my Microsoft account. Once again this has been only a temporary fix. The next day the store is corrupted again. I am not computer savey and have no idea of what to do next. Any ideas?

Have you ran any other tools to check for infections like combofix.exe?

First, try sfc /scannow, which will try to fix the protected files system. If it runs 100% without error means then your store missing files would be copied correctly to your default locations, and your problem may get resolved. This command tries to restore the most protected files from your installed store file locations, and if it is also corrupted, then you have to get the missing files from your dvd or trusted source. If this has not fixed, then i would suggest repair install. When you connect , online solution works, but when you close this problem is creeping. This shows that your windows store in your pc installed directory is messed up.

I ran sfc /scannow and it completed 100% and did not find any integrity violations. I have windows 8.1 with IE 11.
It looks like tutorials/3413-repair-install-html is for windows 7 not 8.1. Is the combofix.exe run in the CMD prompt?
After I ran sfc /scannow I tried it but it told me that it was not recognized and did not run.

Combofix is completely automated

So make sure to disable the antivirus and run combofix as administrator and then go get a cup of coffee :-)

The link for windows 8.1 is here.
But i do not think that your protected files are corrupt, as it does not record any violation.

I downloaded and tried to run the Combofix but it would not run and advised me that Combofix is not meant to run in "Compatibility Mode" the program shall now exit. I am not sure what this means? Is this program for Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? My Windows Store is temporarily working now and I can install some App's. I was trying many different things so I am not sure was I did to get it to work for now. I am sure by latter today or tomorrow it will be back to it's corrupted state. On the start screen my SKYPE will not open. But no problems for now because I have it on my desktop.

Looks like combofix would work on windows 8 but doesnt right properly on 8.1
They are working on an update for it. So for now you will have to skip it.

Thanks for the info. Once it is upgraded I will try it again. The other day I went on line and chatted with one of the Microsoft Answer Techs. I explained my problem to him and that every thing I have tried has only been a temporary fix. He told me that if I wanted the problem fixed I should buy one of their support plans. I told him hell no because I believe this to be a Microsoft software problem and that Microsoft should fix the problem in one of their windows updates. I ended the chat session with him but am still looking for a solution to the problem. Another question for you. Is there a simple and easy way to clear the Event Logs or does it really matter how large it gets.

Event logs clean up as they hit a certain size, you can also right click on an event log to clear it :-)

I that you could use Disk cleanup utility to safely remove some of the windows log. you could choose your drive and wizard shows. That is very safe. When you click you could yourself see the programs that it scans. There is a tab called system files, and you could select it to cover more clean up and it includes service pack back up and there is one more "more options" to see which you could clean. CCleaner comes handy. You could include custom folders for deletion, whenever you opt ccleaner. It is totally safe
