The winsxs folder is something that will always continue to grow and never shrink, some great idea by someone at MS lol

- If I had to move from Vista to Win 7 then I would simply do a fresh Win 7 install and get rid of all Vista rubbish.
- It's possible to reduce the winsxs subfolder:

I have a problem somewhat similar. I have a 120gb SSD and the silly WINSXS folder is eating up
11gb of the space on it. If I had the Windows/Installer folder that is another 3.8gb.
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get a bigger drive, so sad that MS has to do this sort
of thing in Win7/8 and Vista. :(

Check out http://www.karafilis.net/winsxs-cleanup/ (http://www.karafilis.net/winsxs-cleanup/), it explains everything about cleaning up winSXS.

Good find :-)
To bad it is only for Windows 8 and 2012.
But it does make a good point about the folder size may be wrong because of the symbolic links.
I should make a small tool to show the correct size :-)
