Title: Backup Windows 10 after upgrade from Windows 7
Post by: Racco on August 05, 2016, 12:28:41 pm
I upgraded 2 desktop machines and have not been able to backup either one of them.
One quits the update after a while ("the backup was cancelled"), the other says, it does not recognize the external drive as the backup drive.
Has anyone had or have a similar problem and solved it?

Any help is welcome,
Thanks

I prefer to use the system image option rather than Backup.

If you've started the back up on one drive, it may be looking for that one when you've plugged in the other drive.

This are two different desktops with each having its own backup drive.

Bottom line is windows 10 cannot backup a machine that was upgraded from windows 7.

I'd ask again - has anyone have or had this problem?
If you did and solved it, how did you do it.
Thanks

Well I'd say that was your answer if you are getting that on both machines.

Prior to upgrading from Win 7 I created an external system image onto one of my external HDDs and that won't be used for any more images from this machine as I would expect it to be overwritten.

However, I could get the same error as you if I did attempt to overwrite that one with a Win 10 system image.
