General Computer Support / Re: Question about Net Framework
« on: April 01, 2017, 03:25:00 pm »
The response to the first Secunia post is shown below : I did download the Net framework 4.6.2 last night and checked PSI again and no change so i removed it.   I was able to stop Secunia's constant update message by adding the Net Framework to the ( ignore updates) option in Secunia and wait till Monday until they are able to fix this mistake.

I prefer to just wait for Windows update to let me know if i need something instead of installing it separately . Thanks for your continued and very much appreciated expertise my friend.

Hi,

You can easy explain this directly to Flexera through the PSI. In version 3, click on "Add Program" in the upper right corner of the detected programs list, fill in (if possible) all the fields and your request in the additional info box.
This works and is the fastest way; I have done it this way a few times and even if my request didn't concern a new program or a major update, they've always answered within 24 hs (as usual).

Hope this helps.

Thank you my friend , i decided to check out Secunia's forum and what they are saying is the below , this whole thing looks to be a mistake on Secunia's part .

I just scanned my Windows 8.1 System and PSI declared the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.x EOL. This is, in this case, wrong! Microsoft says in their Lifecycle Policy for .NET, that Frameworks that are part of the OS are treated as "Components" rather separate products, thus having the same Support Policy then the Host-OS. In my case, the embedded .NET 2 is part of the .NET 3.5 Operating System Component and thus still has support. Please adjust detection of PSI accordingly, so that Non-Pro-customers don't get frightened unnecessarily.

General Computer Support / Question about Net Framework
« on: March 31, 2017, 08:09:44 pm »
Secunia PSI says I need to update Net Framework but when I click on the link to do that it takes me to a Microsoft webpage that shows many different Net Frameworks , my computer shows Net framework 4.6.1 , does that mean I need 4.6.2 for it to be updated ?

Thank you

Thanks so much Boggin, to be honest i don't notice any issues i just thought something must be wrong since that message never clears itself .  I thought maybe re setting the CMOS battery would take care of it but i don't know for sure.

I was hoping to get a message from it saying "troubleshooting has completed no issues or problems found" but all i get is "hardware may not have been detected' messages lol.

Whats really baffling is even after i have done a clean install before installing any drivers it says "hardware may not have been detected .

Thanks as always for your excellent assistance

I am running Win 7 SP1 64 bit and no matter how many times i check and run the troubleshooting for Hardware related problems i ALWAYS receive the "hardware issues may not have been detected" message and it NEVER goes away .

I have not changed anything and even removed and installed numerous drivers in device manager to no avail.  Sfc/scannow and chkdsk come back with no issues.

The detection details just show CHRIS PC and 6.1 and AMD 64 underneath that .

Any ideas , thank you.

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Re: New Windows repair won't run

It seems i get the "parameter is incorrect " message because i deleted the "recovery" part of the new image i created which came from the recovery option in advanced system settings .  This is a new computer and did not come with a windows 7 installation disc .  It just came with a "restore factory image" option in advanced system settings.

I thought a "parameter is incorrect" message was to mean the whole installation had to be scrapped but sfc/scannow & chkdsk come back clean so maybe it's no big deal.

Thanks Boggin, i got it to work , i don't know how but yes it was in safe mode . Sorry for the delay in my response.

I ran the program twice in safe mode and it seemed to correct everything until i tried to to make a system repair disk , now i get parameter is incorrect , what a nightmare lol.

10
OK , this is a brand new install , it just says parameter is incorrect now when I try to make a recovery disk .

I can't handle this computer stuff much longer , i am about to heave the whole system with overwhelming force out the second story window.  I transferred my operating system to an SSD and now i see the below message when i am trying to create a restore point .

Thats odd , it shows two instances of the operating system but one says "missing" .

Tweaking.com Support & Help / New Windows repair won't run
« on: January 13, 2017, 08:37:30 pm »
I tried to run Windows repair after trying to do a backup and both failed .  After starting the repairs it doesn't do anything , it just says "starting repairs" even after 5 min of waiting for something to happen.

Will the program fix the errors in my log?

Thank you

As you can see in the first screenshot , look at the time elapsed and the start still saying starting repairs , it never starts .

Hello , I have no idea where to look for the installation folder after getting this message from Revo .

If anybody could help I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you

Shane's programs are the best and he is such a humble and helpful computer wiz ,  he has a stellar reputation and i am glad he found fantastic moderators like yourself to take the load off of him to concentrate on other things .

Thanks again

I am providing a link to show you the discussion , it is only two pages and i found it interesting at the start of post # 9 .  Feel free to delete if not allowed , rumor has it that Shane dismembered a forum member while still alive for not following forums rules, it was his 1st offense , very scary, no warnings or anything.

Thanks gentlemen

I took your advice and searched , i eventually happened upon the below fix , ran it in Command Prompt .  Thanks so much for your help .

winmgmt /standalonehost
winmgmt /resetrepository

I had to use Magical Jelly Bean key finder since Dell says the key's are built into the actual system now but it pulled two keys , one for the Product ID which i already had and one for the CD key which has 25 alpha numeric #'s.

Apparently Dell scrapped COA #'s quite awhile ago according to their website.

19
The machine came with Win 7 SP1 Professional installed ,  the only thing that came with the computer is a Win 10 Pro install disk for if and when i want to use Win 10 .

I have not been able to find a product key code anywhere on this computer , there is a product ID code but it's not an activation code that i would need to download a Win 7 SP1 Professional ISO on Microsoft's website.

Where would the COA sticker be located ?

Thank you

Hello, I noticed errors relating to WMI in event logs and used "Windows repair all in one" in "safe mode" twice with just the WMI repair checked off.  I made sure to go through all the first steps and there was no errors of any kind .

I would like to know how can I correct these missing files in WMI as I don't want to have to use the recovery partition because it's packed with Dell bloat ware .  This is a Win 7 professional OS 64 bit.

I would be happy to purchase the professional version of Shane's program if I knew how to add a custom script that would add the WMI files I am missing .

Thank you very much
