General Computer Support / Internet explorer gone(?) -generally quirky-SLOOOW

I am using windows 7, came with Toshiba Sat C655. I use Avast anti-virus, CCleaner,Super Anti-spyware, Malwarebytes, Iobit Advanced system care and a couple others have come and gone and obviously, Tweaking.com. I've also used a few different registry cleaner, which I suspect to be my problem.
I no longer have internet explorer-sort of-If I click "update" on some programs, it will open IE, but it just stays on a white screen. I've tried to download IE, but it tells me I already have a more current version.
I also have various quirks, I'm sure some unknown as well...
1. Comp is ridiculously slow. Sometimes I just have to leave and come back later.
2. Sometimes when I type, like an email, the type moves and I'll end up typing in the middle of a paragraph.
3. System Restore tells me it can't complete, yet it does change things. Even if it did, the given restore points don't go back very far and I think I may need to go back several moths to a year.
I suspect that, as I've used registry cleaners and/or Tweaking, they may have removed a/some registry value/s. Then, subsequent repairs recognized incomplete registry values and therefore removed them completely. I recently read more forums indicating that registry cleaning, at least by a novice, is NEVER recommended...too late. I guess I need someone who can examine my registry and reinstall missing values. My laptop is the family computer, so everyone does whatever they do and I just try to keep everything working. I only install programs that are highly recommended on "major geeks" and I've used most of them for years.
