Title: Error even after all Tweak repairs used
Post by: Curtis on February 17, 2016, 12:56:30 pm
Dell 8700.  Windows ver 10.0.10586.  I've run numerous fixes (Avast deep scan and rootkit, MS Malicious Software Removal Tool, System Mechanic, Dell system diagnostics, updated all drivers, Windows Memory diagnostics and others), and recently ran all diagnostics and repairs at Tweaking.com.  Following all of this I ran the Tweak pre-scan again and the same error shows up.  See attached.  I can post all of the Tweak diagnostic logs if needed.
My initial problem was computer just staying on a blue screen saying "Restarting" and never progressing beyond this screen.  Though such no longer occurs, the whole systems seems to be slowed.

As this is the second thread mentioning this - the first one being http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,4218.0.html I emailed Shane with the links and on checking, he couldn't replicate but said the folder should be in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\SessionManager\Environment

Boggon,
Not sure if you wanted me to reply here or to the thread you referred to.  When I went to the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\SessionManager\Environment, there was no SessionManager under CurrentControlSet, see attached.  However, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control there is an entry SessionManager\Environment for PSModulePath.  Not sure if this is what you meant, see attachment.

Sorry - that was my error in copying the path Shane had emailed me.

You would just use your thread for replies.

I've let Shane know that you've found it and awaiting a reply.

I haven't heard from Shane yet.  Should I contact him directly and, if so, how would I do so?
Thanks.

Shane sent me an email in the early hours of this morning and that he will be coming onto the forum probably today.

He said he has 75 email notifications to work through, so he will get to you.

I'm 8 hrs ahead of him so it will be about 08:45am for him at the moment and then he has to get the kids off to school as he has been temporarily left in charge :)

What is odd is this error has never happened before and I cant replicate it.

I can fix any bug I can replicate.

In this case there is a unknown variable here that is causing it.

One thing I noticed, the path in the picture goes past the width of the box, yet I dont see any scroll bar at the bottom to show it is wider than the box. I wonder if it is possible that the textbox Im using might not be drawing or updating properly.

Open the repair environment variables in the program and post a screen shot for me. This will let me see if the program is pulling it wrong or not.

I think this is what you're asking for.

Nope. That is the actual repairs in the program. The one I want is on the main window right under the open pre-scan button is and is even at the bottom of the pre-scan window as well :-)

Ok so it looks like when it is pulling the %ProgramFiles%.

So open a cmd.exe window and put this in

echo %ProgramFiles%

Then hit enter, then take a screen shot of that for me and post it :-)

Holy crap! I didnt realize it had been almost a month. I am just getting hammered and I am finding it hard to keep up.

If you still have a problem with this it might be something I need to remote into you and take a look at myself, then I will be able to see what is going on.

Shane, thanks for keeping on your list.  I realized that you have many things to do.  The problem remains exactly the same.   Controlling my computer remotely would be fine.  Just let me know what we need to do.

Shane,
I have used the Tweaking repairs more thoroughly and believe that the problem is resolved.  Thanks for your help with this.
Attaching the latest pre-scan results.
