Title: Reboot loop after using the all in one repairs
Post by: smo1997 on December 26, 2012, 03:32:17 pm
I had just made all the suggested repairs using the latests version of the all in one, when the system rebooted, it allowed me to log in, my desktop came up then shuts down and restarts again.  It did this in safe mode as well.  I am using windows vista home premium.  Right now I am attempting to restore to the restore point that the all in one had me set, since I was not having this issue before running it.

Any idea what may have caused this, as I would like to run the program?

Thanks in advance

Havent had that happen on any of the systems I have ran it on. SO lets see if we can find out what is happening

Does the system completely restart? Or does it log off? If it is restarting does Windows say it is shutting down or does it just shut down without doing the shutdown process?

Did you also do a chkdsk on the drive as well?

The program doesnt replace any files on the system, so try restoring the registry from my reg backup program.

Let goes go from there

Yes it completely restarts.  Everything loads on my desk top then it says shuting down and goes through the process again.  Before writing to you I started a system restore so it is in the middle of that right now.

OK so it isnt crashing but actually doing the shutdown process. That is very odd. Something in the system is telling it to shutdown when you log in.

Do you have another user account you can log into and see if it happens on that user profile?

Odd, the program doesnt set any reg keys for reboot. It just calls the shutdown.exe if you ask it to reboot after the repairs.

Something must be set in the startup for the machine to restart. Restoring the registry to before the repairs will put the reg back to what it was. Or something in the task scheduler.

Does it auto login to your profile or does it come up to the user login? If it comes up to the user login if you let it sit for a few does it stillr estart or is it only after you login?

came up to user login.  If I let it sit with out logging in, it would reboot.  How long should the system restore take, the repairs took about an hour

Are you restoring with the Windows System Restore or my Reg backup program?

windows system restore.  It looks like it is almost complete.  I'll get back to you later or tomorrow as to how it turned out.  Once Its done, I will try your program again but I will do one repair at a time and reboot after each.

Thanks

Steve
