General Computer Support / Strange .mp3 problem
« on: August 14, 2015, 05:22:33 am »
Previously I have downloaded hundreds of .mp3 files, played them in Winamp, then used mp3Direct Cut to get rid of silences at the beginning and end of the files. I then saved the edited files, adding the figure 1 to the song title to distinguish it from the original, then played them again with Winamp to check they were ok, and finally deleted the original files, deleted the figure 1 from the title of the edited files, and then cut and pasted them to the folders I wanted them in. Now when I try to play the edited files I can't unless I first take ownership of them. I have never had this problem before, and if someone can give me a solution I would be very grateful.

General Computer Support / System File Check For Windows 10
« on: August 08, 2015, 11:30:12 pm »
I ran the System File Check option of the Windows Repair program while booted to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit in Safe Mode with Networking. Corrupt files were found but System File Check could not repair them.

I then started Windows 10 normally and ran sfc /scannow. The results were exactly the same as those for the Windows Repair program.

I then ran SFCFix.exe (a Sysinternals program) but that said it was unable to locate the  source file. It gave a link to a Microsoft web page giving an explanation about the source file, but I could not understand it.

Can anyone tell me where to find the source file please. (I have an installation DVD for Windows 10).

Please advise.

Thanks and regards, Roy

I installed and ran the Tweaking.com Windows Repair program today and was very impressed.

I have just one query. When I open Windows Update and go to Update History it says no updates have been installed, which is incorrect, whereas Installed Updates correctly shows that a total of 221 updates have been installed. How can this discrepancy be resolved?

Please advise.

Thanks and regards, Roy
