I have just tried out Tweaking repair. It didn't solve my problem but it seems like a worthwhile program to run when I do get a problem.
What I don't understand is why it is running all the time?
what is it doing?
thanks for any replies

Open the program and click on Settings then click on Remove From Startup.
What problems are you having and which version of Windows are you using ?

Thanks I know how to stop it running but just wondered what it was doing? maybe It's doing something that I want it to do......
I fixed my other problem thanks. I'm running Win 10 and Task scheduler wasn't running one of my tasks. In the end I deleted it and re-entered it and it worked!
BTW I didn't get notified of your reply even though I had that ticked?
Thanks

It needs to be running so that you can use the system tray icon as a shortcut for various options.
I tried it with it disabled from start and no longer had the icon available.
Sometimes I don't get notifications either and Shane didn't know why this occasionally happens.

Ah! Thanks I hadn't noticed the tray icon.
I downloaded a couple of the other programs and tried compressing my registry.
when it starts compressing I get a dialog box with message "C:windows\System32\Config\System is Corrupt"
Any idea what to do about that?
I rebooted and tried it again and still get the same message..... I haven't noticed any problems so far.
thanks for your help

You haven't said which version of Windows you are using but I'd run a sfc /scannow if using later than XP and a chkdsk /f if using XP and I'll pass this onto Shane.
